Quick Updates

Weather Conditions

Season: Autumn

With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

Seaway City was abuzz with activity this day, as its citizens rushed about to get ready for the traveling caravan. A costume stand was setting up nearest the fountain, while harkers shouted the wares for hot food and sweet treats up and down the venues. The sky was a beautiful blue with a few grey wisps of cloud. The water twinkled in the sunlight and lapped gently at dock and vessel. Pokémon and human alike were milling about like Combee swarming a spilled jar of honey.

The scenery was largely overlooked by Denzil Heath, whom had just exited a transport barge with a number of other passengers and was currently fighting to keep his stomach contents where they currently were. A natural denizen of the desert, he hadn't had much experience with deep water save for the Crater of Navdia. Unfortunately, this also meant that he was unable to swim, and would sink like a literal stone if he had slipped from the swaying boat. The possibility was not lost on his as he finished heaving into a waste bin.

A toy vendor gave him a passing glance but did not slow his pace. Denzil wiped his mouth and took a deep, steadying breath. As his vision cleared he was able to look around once he'd wiped away a few tears. Music was playing from somewhere far off and brightly colored standards hung from almost every surface, including strung across the street from a length of rope near where a large tent was being set up. As the young man regained his footing he watched as a white horse with a flaming mane nudged a large colorful ball along the ground until it was beside one of the smaller tents.

Lucas walked into Seaway City with a bit of surprise on his face. He wasn’t used to seeing all of this activity, and he looked up to Lugus who was once more perched on his head “Don’t get down. Stay up there so we can be sure that we do not get separated.” Lugus gave a few chirps to acknowledge the order before he started to scan quickly for all these wonderful sights and sounds. Lucas sighed as he looked around unsure of what he was seeing, or why he was seeing it. All he did know was something big and interesting was happening here.

The scenery was nearly completely ignored by Lucas. He was busy watching the pokemon themselves. He was a Pokemon Poacher by trade, and he couldn’t help but watch all of the wonderful pokemon that were passing him. He licked his lips in his desire to take them, however, he was not a thief, he was not a scoundrel, and so he would not steal anything from anyone. He watched as another very rare pokemon walked by him smiling widely “Oh, look at that. Munchlax.” He whispered more to Lugus than anyone else “It is so beautiful, so rare, I wonder how much I could get for it.” Shaking his head, he refocused his attention on the sights that were clearly a traveling circus of some kind.

He hadn’t ever been to the circus before. Whenever a traveling troupe of performers passed his home, he was too busy in his father’s forge that he never got to see it. Then when he was not at home, he was always in the Edgewood, Dedrius, or some other place poaching to find work with his master. All in all, there was no time for him to sit and watch performers or circuses. With that in mind he decided that he would stop by and see what this circus had to offer.

After being shooed away from what had apparently been a preparation area, Denzil found himself wandering the stalls being setup along the main tent’s perimeter. It was slow going as there were already floods of curious people coming to see the commotion. He turned to glare at whoever had just stepped on his foot but the crowd flow was moving too quickly to get a clear look at their face. Just the back of their head where a green ribbon was tied into a rough knot. After a bit grumbling and sidestepping several workers loaded down with a wooden crate, his eyes fell on something that caught his interest.

He’d thought he had heard a hammer striking metal while he was walking, but this was new. A small area had been roped off with a thin wooden tower set at its center. It was painted in bright colors alternating between red, blue, green and yellow, before ending with a large metal bell at the very top. As he approached there was a young man standing in front of it with a wooden hammer big enough to need both arms to lift it, currently red in the face as he strained to do just that. A grey-skinned creature with four arms walked up to the boy and casually hefted the hammer’s head onto his shoulder for him. The young man gave a thankful nod and charged forward towards the tower. Before he reached it he brought the hammer down with both arms and struck a metal plate at its base. There was a thud, and a small half-tube of red metal shot up the tower a bit before falling back down with a metal clang. The boy had a disappointed look on his face until the Machamp from before clapped a hand on his shoulder, and handed him a simple leather bracer with another of its four hands.

There was a smattering of clapping coming from the crowd as the boy affixed the bracer to his arm and held it high, and it was then that Denzil saw the circus’s smiling Hitmontop symbol embossed on the front. Grinning, he stepped forward when the Machamp gestured for another volunteer to try their luck. He accepted the offered hammer and found its weight agreeable. He mused that the kid from before must have put some effort into lifting it, even with the Machamp’s help, since this felt like it weighed about the same as a regular sledge. He tightened his grip and lifted the hammer onto his shoulder. He took aim at the metal plate and brought it down with all the strength he had in his arms and back. The metal tube rose three squares, and fell back to the ground. There was an empty silence for a moment where he could swear someone was snickering in the background. ‘What, just happened?
