Quick Updates

Weather Conditions

Season: Autumn

With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

You know the rules and so do I. A full commitments what I'm thinking of. You wouldn't get this from any other Guy Durandal.

Okay. Enough with the Rick Roll. http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/HarperRegion/Sprites/Emoticons/8.png Also, you rolled ridiculously well on your egg. Let's get this started!

Gregory took the time to meet his new Pokemon, tossing the ball into the air. "Pokeball, reveal your contents!" A flash of light blinded Gregory. When his sight returned to him, a small pitch black bird was looking up at him. The Murkrow squawked before rising into the air and landing on Gregory's shoulder, staring into his eyes. The Dark-type nuzzled his beak against Gregory's cheek, soaking up a few of the tears that had fallen. Murkrow cooed lightly before fluttering to the other shoulder to dry that cheek as well.

Mrs. Potter smiled between tears, dabbing at her eyes and laughing lightly. "He appears to like you. Shaun did well picking out a Pokemon that would be kind to you. He even seems to want to stop your crying." Mrs. Potter handed Gregory her handkerchief and continued to smile. "Wipe your tears, sweetling. It's time for you to go. We'll be waiting with open arms for your return some day." Ren grabbed Gregory lightly by the shoulder and escorted him outside.

Rena walked out with Gregory, handing him an over the shoulder pack to carry his newly acquired items. She cocked her head as she watched Gregory continue to clear his eyes, wiping away the tears that had overtaken him. "Shaun believes in you. Mrs. Potter and myself as well. Get out of here for a while. Travel will repair your heart. Oh and here's something else to help you take your mind off of things." Rena ran inside, motioning for Gregory to hold on. She returned with a Pokemon egg.

Handing it over to Gregory, she placed her hand on his shoulder and smiled. "Whatever is inside of that thing will look to you for protection. It will want you to love it as much as it loves you. You will be its teacher, its parent, its best friend. I believe you have it in you to be all of those things. Now get out of here! It's high time you figured yourself out and made a name for yourself. We'll be waiting to hear of you, from you, and eventually see you again." Rena pulled Gregory in for a hug and then walked back inside without saying another word.

The world was open, Istin City seemed larger than it ever had before. Outside of the tavern stood a bulletin board, full of potential jobs to keep Gregory's pockets full of gold. Down the street there was a mercenary den, where there was always work to be found albeit requiring a bit more physical conflict than the potential of rescuing a Meowth from a tree that could be found on the bulletin board. Only two jobs currently stuck to the bulletin board.

Two of my seniors have been on loan to Dedrius for the last two months. I have new orders for them that I cannot entrust to a messenger bird and I'm currently stretched thin on Guardians. If you're interested in delivering a message for me and taking home a good sized purse of gold, please inquire at the Guardians HQ here in Istin.

Gregory watched as his newly acquired Pokeball released it's contents. A black bird squawked as it fly around the room before taking it's place upon Gregory's shoulder. It was obvious that this bird had been told to watch over him. It carefully used it's beak to stop a tear from dripping down his face. He listened to Mrs Potter speak, and nodded before being escorted outside. "Murkrow, you will be known as The Raven." Murkrow squawked, agreeing with what Gregory had just said.

Everything seemed to be going at one hundred miles an hour, he was being passed items and a bag, and then Rena spoke. She was right, travelling would eventually heal his heart. He needed to convalesce, and sitting in the Tavern where he saw quite often wouldn't help at all. What happened next shocked him. Rena ran inside mentioning that she had something for him. His eyes widened when she returned with an egg, cream in colour with green spots. "Is that...?" He started to speak, he was a little gob smacked. She smiled and confirmed that it indeed was a Pokemon Egg, so very soon Gregory would be the owner of another Pokemon.

He smiled as he listened to Rena's experience, she was a right. His Pokemon would become his family, his friends and he would be their master. He vowed here that he would return when he had something to be proud of. It was sad though, his heart was still currently black and frozen. So it would probably take some time to heal. Rena then pulled him in for hug and then disappeared. He was out in Istin all on his own now. He had no idea where he would start. He had never imagined that he would ever manage to get a Pokemon of his own.

After walking around for a while, he came across the bulletin boards. They were full with jobs for experience people, something that would probably be too difficult for Gregory to handle on his own at the minute. He decided to keep on look, as the only way he would be taking these jobs would be if he partnered up with someone, and that wasn't going to happen in the near future. It was when he passed a mercenary den that one of their two only requests caught his eye. This was more of an advertisement than a request, but it was a very eye catching advertisement, and sounded perfect for him.

One was all too regal, and would put him into contact with people Shaun would have worked with, that at the moment was too much. The request from Instructor Tosh really sang to him. Plus, it would give him the basics on battling and even then give him another Pokemon to work with. Gregory had made his mind up, he would locate this Instructor Tosh and take part in his course. The location wasn't a problem, as the Tavern wasn't that high above where the Instructor resided.

He began walking around, looking for the staircase that would take him to the base level of Istin.

[Egg Post One]

[[Also, I never really made it known which level the Tavern was on, so i've been vague cos I dun wanna be seen to be controlling it.]]

[0.7 EXP for last post.]

Gregory found the stairs to the lower levels and began his descent. Guardians were stationed on each level but didn't seem to pay too much attention to Gregory. A few citizens made their way up and down the stairs around Gregory, some fretting over errands and others laughing with their companions. The day was jolly enough and one could only hope it would start to rub off on Gregory as well. One youth running up the stairs almost ran into Gregory, quickly realizing his incoming collision and side stepping only to end up on his face anyways. The young boy looked up at Gregory and showed a large smile that was missing a few of his front teeth, likely baby teeth that had fallen out, before bolting off.

The base level of Istin was surprisingly empty. Many shops dotted the streets and just as many homes dotted side streets off of the main drag. The occasional man or woman could be seen scurrying about to the next shop but aside from that, Gregory had the area to himself... Until he was bombarded by large hands and an unusually happy voice. Two hands were clapping his shoulders as an even larger man stepped in front of Gregory.

The person grabbing Gregory was roughly six and a half feet of bronzed man, an odd thing in itself in Harper. Short black hair was kept at less than an inch long and flowed into an equally short black beard. The man was wearing a long white coat, black slacks, and heavy black boots, with no shirt under the opened coat. A barrel chest and defined abs broke out from under the coat, seeming to pulsate and flex even as the man stood perfectly still in front of Gregory. Big brown eyes glimmered as he looked down on Gregory and a perfectly straight and white mouthful of teeth parted into an even bigger grin. "A new handler! No need to hide it, brother. I can see the youth that's playing off the face of your Murkrow! Here to have a lesson or three from Instructor Tosh?!"

Without waiting for an answer, the large man grabbed Gregory by the hand and lead him into the building behind him. A large oak building was where the school was located, standing quite large at two stories tall and at least two thousand feet wide. Beautifully decorated with carvings and paintings of young Pokemon, the school was alive with people inside. People of every gender, age, size, occupation, race, and religion were paired with many more men and women dressed in a similar fashion to the man that had grabbed Gregory outside. The only noticeable difference aside from size was the fact that the rest of the staff were wearing shirts under their jackets rather than showing off their chests. The man waved at passing students and staff alike, rubbing heads and shaking hands as he escorted Gregory to a larger room in the back that stood some what isolated and empty.

The man spun on his heel and greeted Gregory again, shaking his hand and smiling again. "The name's Tosh, brother. This is my academy! You caught me on a break to get some fresh air so naturally I figured this was fate, I was meant to personally train you! You will be the ace of the class and walk tall once you're done with my personal training! Instructor Tosh will sculpt you into a top tier handler in no time, brother!" Tosh threw one arm into the air and flexed the other, shredding his jacket into dozens of pieces that fluttered to the floor. Looking down at the tearing sounds, Tosh bellowed laughter as he approached a wall that was lined with the white coats and donned another one.

"My apologies. That's the reason I don't wear a shirt under my professor coat, they rip entirely too easily! Har har har har! So... I see you have that Murkrow... A Dark-Flying hybrid, that one. The Flying typing obliterates the natural enemy of Dark, the Fighting-type. That means he's only got a wicked weakness to Ice, Electrics, and Rock types! Your Murkrow is effective against Ghost and Psychic types due to the Dark typing and Bug, Fighting, and Grass types due to the Flying type! Quite the effective combination! Learning about type differences will save your life some day, brother. Type advantage can be learned easily enough in the wild, learning how to deal with type disadvantage, however.... I prefer you learn that here where the conditions are controlled and you can learn without it spelling your doom." Instructor Tosh walked over to a large dresser at the far end of the room and unearthed three Pokeballs before returning to Gregory.

"Ice type, Electric type, and Rock type. You will be choosing between these three weaknesses. That will be how we will start out your education and your ascent to the top, brother!" Tosh juggled the three Pokeballs as he watched Gregory, awaiting his answer.

[Egg 2]

Gregory walked down to the bottom level, passing several guardians, who were seemingly on guard duty on each level. He tried not to make eye contact with them. Not because he thought he stuck out, it was more to do with the fact he was worried in case any of them worked alongside Shaun. He wouldn't be able to cope with the awkwardness of the situation. There were people going about their business between the levels. There was only one time where Gregory had to stop. This was when a youth had to try and stop a collision on the stairs. Instead of hitting Gregory, he managed to hit his own face. Gregory didn't even get a chance to check that he was ok, he bolted off as quickly as he had appeared.

'Strange child.' Gregory thought to himself as he continued to walk down the stairs. He eventually stepped down on the ground level. He was quite shocked to find that it was practically empty. It wasn't this empty when he had first arrived in Istin. There were shops and houses dotted about, and the few people that Gregory saw were very quiet and kept themselves to themselves. So Gregory was practically alone. He wasn't sure if he liked it, although he wouldn't have to worry for long. All he saw were two particularly large hands and heard a rather happy voice. It had been a long time since he had heard such a voice in Istin, or indeed anywhere.

Gregory was shocked, to the point where he was a little frightened by the behemoth that stood in front of him. At first glance he looked like some weirdo that liked to pretend he was some sort of doctor. When he spoke, Gregory's stomach stopped doing flips. He had managed to find the person who had left the message on the board. He had never imagined him so.... well. It's easy to say that Gregory had never imagined that Instructor Tosh to look like he had. In all honesty, Gregory was a little dumbstruck. Usually he would be drooling around after someone like this, perfect teeth, hair, abs. He stood on the spot blinking. 'The chest.... The abs.... Perfect!' It then hit him how he was thinking. He shouldn't think like that. It hadn't been long since Shaun had passed. He shook himself out of his thought pattern.

He listened as Tosh explained about The Raven's strengths and weaknesses. It was interesting. The situation became even more interesting when he explained what their training would involve. In his rather big hands he held three Pokeballs, and explained that Murkrow would be facing against an Electric, Ice or Rock type. The three main weaknesses of his bird. Gregory had already made his mind up that he would like to capture an Ice Type. So it would be handy for The Raven to be able to take them on easily.

"Thank you Instructor Tosh. I'm Gregory Beauchamp. The Raven and I would love to take some training on, and I for one am hoping to capture an Ice Type at some point, so I believe that my best shot at that is getting my Pokemon ready for battling with an Ice Type. So please, show me your Ice Pokemon!" Gregory watched as he continued to juggle the Pokeballs. Hopefully it would be an interesting training session. Gregory couldn't wait to see what he was going up against.

[Certainly my good sir. Also. Rosa's character is holding some stuff for Gregory, so I have no idea how Gregory will get it back]

(OOC- I'll take care of the items!)

Tosh laughed as he continued to juggle for a few more minutes, carefully tossing the balls and staring intently on each one to keep track of the Pokemon. He suddenly threw all three balls into the air, catching two in his left hand and one in his right. He held the one in his right hand up to his face and spun the ball on the tip of his index finger, smiling at Gregory. He flipped the ball into position and pressed the release button. Bright white light flashed over the area as a small creature began to form. A Glaceon stretched its paws forward, yawning quietly before rising and softly padding over to Instructor Tosh. The huge man laughed heartily as he leaned down and gave the frosty cat a few soft pats.

"Glaceon! An Ice-type that many know but few can conquer! These little Eevee-lutions are masters of their element. Their power lies in their Special Attack and Defense. This one in particular is quite the Pokemon. She's loving and quite protective of her master. Let's see what she can... Eh?" Tosh suddenly cut off as another Pokemon began to form between Gregory and himself. An Abra looked around the room until he spotted Gregory. Tilting his head and then nodding, the Psychic-type levitated over and dropped a rather heavy pack in front of Gregory before saluting and teleporting off again.

"I'm guessing you were expecting a package? Brother, you're just full of surprises! Har har har! Anyways, Glaceon is revved up and ready to rock and roll! I hope you're prepared for this! Glaceon! Eye your enemy and watch his movements. Use Detect once the first attack comes your way. After that, I want you to use Ice Beam to freeze that bird solid!" Tosh took a few steps back and crossed his arms, a smile on his face. Glaceon stretched once more before taking a defensive position, low to the ground but still ready to pounce.

"Gregory Beauchamp! Your first lesson begins now! Let's see what you have to bring to this table, brother!" Tosh's excitement showed in his voice. He clearly was expecting a lot out of Gregory. The Raven looked to Gregory with determination in his eyes. The Dark-type was now awaiting orders.

[Egg 3]

Gregory watched in silence as Instructor Tosh continued to juggle his Pokeballs. It was obvious that he was easily following the balls, and knew which Pokemon was in which. Eventually he released the Pokemon that would be the sparring partner for The Raven. The Pokeball burst open and reveal a sky blue Pokemon. A Glaceon, Gregory discovered. He had heard about this Pokemon's prevolution, but never realised Eevee could evolve into an ice type. A quick check on his Pokecard confirmed all the information that Tosh had explained.

Gregory took his ground and prepared to battle, when an Abra appeared in front of him, dropped a pack off and dashed off. Gregory was left blinking. The appearance of the Abra seemed to tickle Instructor Tosh. "I don't remember expecting anything." There was no note or anything. In his head, Gregory hoped it was Lena or maybe even Shaun's will that brought the items to him, but he didn't question. The Raven managed to pull him back into reality, squawking rather loudly. Gregory looked The Raven directly in the eye. He was so determined. Gregory nodded and smiled a little. This battle was going to be fun.

Tosh was very quick to announce his first moves. Glancing to his Pokecard once again, Gregory quickly learnt the moves that his bird pokemon knew. Gregory knew there was only a slim chance that The Raven would be able to win, but this was the best way to make itself better against ice types. "Fine, they wanna protect, The Raven, I want you to use Torment, then follow up with Snarl." Gregory began his own commands. Gregory was already aware of the move Torment, thanks to his Mother's Pokemon. So he knew that it would stop moves from being used twice in a row. Meaning that Instructor Tosh would have to rotate what moves he used.

'If the worst comes to the worst, I suppose I can use Perish Song.' Gregory thought to himself. There wasn't much more he could do, seeing as there wasn't a move in The Raven's arsenal that could stop Ice Beam. "The Raven, try to stay high in the sky when not attacking, you might be able to avoid being hit by Glaceon's moves that way." The Raven squawked, basically confirming that he had heard Gregory's thoughts. 'I suppose the height could come in handy for Brave Bird as well, an attack from high up could do some damage, even to an Ice Type.' Gregory was going to need to strategise more, even if he couldn't fully defeat this Glaceon, he would show Instructor Tosh what he was made of!

Tosh tensed up, clearly astonished by Gregory's choice in moves. A smile slowly spread across his face. "Very good, brother! Now Glaceon! Let's get this party started!" Tosh threw a pointed finger towards The Raven as his smile broadened. Glaceon gave a quick nod before charging closer to the bird. The Torment would make the Detect command useless so she began to charge her Ice Beam attack. The raven followed his Torment with a low and menacing Snarl, the very air in front of him becoming a weapon as the noise pierced through. Glaceon shuddered as vibrations of anger hit her. Quickly shaking off the attack, Glaceon countered with her Ice Beam attack.

The Raven took a direct hit from the attack but didn't seem too stunned by the effects. The bird squawked and rustled his feathers before regaining height back into the air, looking over Glaceon once more. Glaceon looked infuriated by the lack of damage and effects from her Ice Beam. Instructor Tosh placed a hand on his chin, resting his elbow in his available arm as he gauged the situation and pondered what had happened. Glaceon backed away from the Dark-type, readying another Ice Beam. As she fired, Tosh chuckled. The beam never formed due to the effects of Torment.

Tosh straightened up again, placing both hands together and flexing his arms. His coat ripped once more, exposing gloriously solid muscles that pulsed with every movement. "BAHAHAHAHA! Another coat meets its end to my glorious figure! My tailor will be ecstatic when I place another order so soon! Glaceon! Torment stops you from repeating moves! Snarl has lowered your Special Attack, thus causing less damage from your Ice Beam and all other distance attacks you may make. You'll have to either connect with many more attacks or go for a more physical approach!"

Tosh began to move towards the coat rack and stopped at the last second, instead waving his hand and shaking his head. He was clearly tired of blowing through clothing. "SO! Glaceon... Let's see... Try a Frost Breath attack. If you connect, immediately follow up with a Tail Whip and Tackle combination." Glaceon nodded once more, fury showing in her eyes. The battle was just starting and no clear winner could be chosen... Yet.

[Egg 4]

Gregory knew that as a novice at battling, he would more then likely struggle, but he still wasn't going to make it an easy ride for Tosh. Gregory had used Snarl as it could be used at a distance, but it seemed that it's secondary effect had come into play. Snarl had weakened Glaceon's special attack, this was perfect! He glanced at his Pokecard again. He had yet to remember all of his Pokemon's moves. As he opened his mouth to command another move, Tosh spoke. Of course, he ripped yet another jacket to shreds.

Whilst his muscles were certainly attractive, Gregory wasn't going to allow them to cloud his judgement while this battle was under way. "Do you not think it would be more economical for you to wear a jacket slightly bigger than the one you are wearing now Instructor Tosh?" Gregory asked slightly timidly, trying not to glance at his bulging muscles. He then continued to glance at his Pokecard. A smirk ran across his face when he saw the next move he knew he had to use.

'Using these two moves in succession could be key for battling opponents that are tough to battle against.' He started to feel a little more confident in himself, and in his Pokemon. "The Raven, we've used Torment, so why don't we double it up with a Taunt? Then we'll get close too. Use Brave Bird!" Gregory watched as Tosh went to his coat rack, then changed his mind, waving his hand and shaking his head. Which seemed like a good idea, in terms of money, however, Gregory's mind was doing overtime.

'Let's just play it safe and look at the floor and The Raven' Gregory thought to himself. There was no way that he was going to get caught up in the hotness of the muscles. He still felt a bit wrong after not long losing Shaun. He cleared his throat, then focused his eyes on The Raven. Gregory knew immediately what moves were going to follow up next. Perish Song would be left for the end, and only if he felt that the situation needed it.

[0.7 EXP for last post.]

(OOC- It's a battle post. They tend to be a tad bit short. You did fine in my opinion!)

Tosh cocked his head at Gregory's inquiry. A grin spread across his face as he flexed one bicep and patted it with his free arm. "I could indeed have bigger coats made but that would just tempt me to grow even larger muscles, brother! My physique provides inspiration to others and is a wonder on the eyes, it's just too tempting to provide even more rippling glory for the world to see if I have the room to do so in my professor coats! Bwahahahaha!" Tosh's expression suddenly lost its luster when he heard Gregory's command. He froze in place, a scowl starting to form. The scowl slowly formed back into a grin as Tosh straightened his posture again and crossed his arms.

Glaceon charged forward, bounding towards her airborne enemy. The Raven squawked as Glaceon continued to close the gap, moving quickly on the ground before leaping. The little Ice-type blasted a frozen breath at The Raven, the shards of ice shimmering in the light of the room as they washed over their target. The Dark-type screeched in pain, the Frost Breath attack critically hitting as it always did. The Raven dropped to the ground with a thunk, quickly scuttling back to his feet as Glaceon shot forward once more. Her tail grazed the Murkrow's head before the small Eevee-lution spun around and Tackled him.

The Raven tumbled sideways, rolling around the ground in pain as the Tackle attack really set in. Glaceon stayed in an offensive position, ready to deliver another blow should her enemy get back up. Tosh's grin widened, his hands moving to applaud. "You did well Gregory, but some type differences are just plain and simple hard to- Now what do we have here?" Tosh stopped his applause and looked over to the downed Pokemon. The Raven slowly rose to his feet, unfolding his wings in an attempt to shake off some of the damage he had received. The bird squawked once more before beating his wings heavily and quickly lifting into the air. Glaceon rushed forward, attempting another Tackle attack but her body couldn't manage it with the effects of Torment.

The Raven made a clicking noise, drawing Glaceon's attention to him. He swooped above her, made a circle, and swooped across her again. He was Taunting her. The frustrated Glaceon growled, clearly not finding this to be amusing. Her enemy swooped high into the air and then went into a dive bomb, tucking his wings in as he skyrocketed towards her just barely a foot above the ground. The Raven collided hard into Glaceon's side. Both Pokemon yelped upon impact, both Pokemon rolling hard against each other across the floor, both Pokemon breaking apart after a few rolls, and both Pokemon laying eerily still as they came to a halt on the ground.

Tosh gasped slightly, lowering his arms and gawking at the scene that had just played out in front of him. "Taunt and Torment, quite the combination. Sadly, we won't get to see the results... Not that Glaceon and I could have done much against it. Brave Bird is a suicidal move, inflicting great damage on your enemy and the Pokemon using it. Both Pokemon appear to be pretty well done with this fight, brother. I'm impressed with how well your Murkrow follows your orders. Younger Pokemon can be a little slow to the battle game but the two of you appear to have a knack for it. Return The Raven and bring his Pokeball to me. I'll get both of these Pokemon healed up."

Tosh retrieved Glaceon's Pokeball and returned her to the ball. He approached Gregory, extending one hand to accept The Raven's ball and clapping Gregory on the back with the other. "You did well, Gregory! You show such promise that I believe you can do whatever you set your mind to in this world. With The Raven at your side and any other Pokemon you capture, you can bet that absolutely anything is possible, brother." Instructor Tosh smiled again, his admiration of Gregory's battle prowess quite evident.

Congratulations on your first victory! The Raven gains 6 EXP for defeating Glaceon, leveling him to level six! Gregory gains 3 EXP for defeating Instructor Tosh in a Pokemon battle, leveling him to level two! The Raven gains two levels from Gregory's level up and you gain three on your Egg Count!

Oh and I forgot to incorporate the Bug-type attracting incense... That's in your bag. Ha ha.

Gregory's heart was thumping in his chest. 'How on earth could he get his muscles bigger?!' That was a question that he wouldn't ask. It would just hint slightly onto the weird side. The battle seemed to end quite abruptly. It seemed that Tosh hadn't been too pleased with Gregory's choice of move. This was a combination that Gregory would be able to use often, as it seemed that the two moves worked hand-in-hand.

Gregory was rather surprised when The Raven pulled himself back to his feet after the moves that Glaceon had unleashed upon him. The Frost Breath, as he learnt, made all hits critical. If The Raven had been able to pull himself together before hitting the floor, it would have been different, but since he got a shock he had fallen to floor. When the Tackle hit, even Instructor Tosh had though it was over! However, Gregory had showed his newbie status to this handling gig though.

He hadn't realised that Brave Bird was a suicidal move, he just thought the bird would in effect... be brave and hit the enemy. Gregory just stood, sort of dumbfounded by what had just happened. Both Pokemon were now lying motionless on the floor. "The.... Raven?" Gregory spoke, slowly. In his head, this was another thing to die in his life. Tosh then spoke. He praised Gregory for what he done in the battle, and then explained about the Brave Bird.

"I really need to look into The Raven's moves more thoroughly." He spoke. Tosh then offered to get his Pokemon healed. He nodded as he watched him return Glaceon into her Pokeball. He grabbed The Raven's Pokeball from is belt and enlarged it. The black bird was then sucked into the orb. He then placed it into the rather large hand of Tosh. 'Don't stare, for Arceus' sake, do not stare!' He told himself as he let go of the Pokeball.

"I thank you very much for your kind words, Instructor Tosh." Gregory smiled. "I cannot wait until I get some more partners for my adventure." Gregory had already had a thought of which Pokemon he would like, and it seemed that he was going to have to leave Istin to get some of the Pokemon he wanted. But it just meant that it was going to be even more of an adventure. There was one thing that Gregory had learnt from this battle, and this was that The Raven was one of the most important friends that he will ever have in his life, and he would always be by his side. As if Shaun was watching over him.

Tosh whistled and an older man in flowing white robes appeared. Tosh tossed the two Pokeballs to the man. "Healing, is it? Pardon the instructor's manners, my dear lad. My name is Archie. I'm the resident healer for the Pokemon that we use here. I'll be back shortly!" Archie gave a deep bow and scurried out of the room with the two Pokeballs safely tucked in his pocket. Tosh motioned for Gregory to follow him, the two exiting into a stairway at the back of the training area. One flight of stairs later, Gregory and Instructor Tosh emerged on the second floor. Many doors lead into many small rooms along the hallway that lead to a larger room in the back.

"They're all bedrooms. I take care of students who don't have homes to go back to. It's a step up from the slums but sadly they are still humble. I do my best to provide for the youth of Istin when I can. The more children I look after, the less recruits the Order will find in our beautiful city, brother." Tosh smiled as he patted Gregory on the back and lead him to two beautifully decorated dark oak doors at the end of the hallway. Pushing both doors open, Tosh showed Gregory into his office.

Awards, trophies, diplomas of excellency from both the Queen of the region and the Istin Guardians covered the walls. Painting of a younger Tosh with many different kinds of Pokemon were also spotted here and there. Tosh sat Gregory down at a large desk that was black as midnight. Setting a glass of cooled Pecha Berry juice in front of Gregory, Tosh sat down on the other side. As they were getting comfortable, Archie stepped inside of the office, setting the two Pokeballs on the desk. "They're both as fit as a fiddle! Exhaustion was the main culprit of their unconscious state. I fed both of them after patching them up. Two very strong willed Pokemon but both have big hearts. Alas, I'm rambling. I'll let you two get back to business." Archie bowed and let himself out of the room.

Tosh cleared his throat and smiled at Gregory, grabbing both Pokeballs and spinning them slowly in the palm of his hand. "Brother, you've shown your worth. Very few students manage to beat me in the first round. I have something I want to talk to you about. You have the potential to grow far more skilled than you may expect. I can tell your heart aches right now, possibly from a traumatic event that has recently transpired. I don't expect you to open up to me, I just hope you're willing to do me a favor. I have something coming up... An investigation of sorts. The school may look to be heavily occupied but this is still light in comparison to our usual attendance..."

Tosh shook his head and began to frown, taking a long pull from his own glass of berry juice before looking back to Gregory. "Myself and the higher ups in the city think that something is happening to the children. There's a chance that someone is kidnapping them... While our ranks here at the school are faltering, the Order's are... Swelling. Small groups of child raid parties are breaking into houses and stealing things, all of the houses belonging to people that the Order have a grudge against. I want to save these children but I need help, brother. I need you, Gregory. Your skills are still rough but you can become experienced in no time."

Tosh popped both Pokeballs into the air and released The Raven and Glaceon. Both Pokemon landed on his desk, sitting down and watching Gregory. "You've earned Glaceon. You won the battle and this was the Pokemon you won by doing so. Glaceon has already taken a liking to you strictly based on your skills as a commander. I want you to go out to Route Five and catch another Pokemon. While you're at it, work on hatching that egg of yours. If you can do both of these things while strengthening yourself, the Pokemon, and the bonds between all of you... I feel like you will become the perfect partner to help me save these children. What do you say, brother? Are you in?"

Tosh stood and offered a hand to Gregory. Both Pokemon stared up at Gregory, slight smiles spreading on both of their faces. Even the Pokemon seemed to believe in Gregory's abilities. Tosh waited for Gregory's answer, his hand still in the air. What would Gregory choose to do?

Gregory followed Tosh, after Archie had appeared and taken the Pokeballs of The Raven and Glaceon to be healed. Gregory followed in silence as Tosh motioned to follow him up some stairs that were situated at the back of the training area. It seemed to be a room of doors. Tosh then explained that these, in effect, were dormitories where younger people in Istin could feel safe. Gregory felt a lot safer just in hearing that statement. He was fighting the order, and doing quite spectacularly. Gregory felt Tosh's large hand pat him on the back, he then lead him to the big room at the bottom of the corridor.

The doors that were the entrance to the room were beautiful. A dark oak. They seemed to be specially made for Tosh, and it seemed that he was very proud of them. Gregory's eyes widened when he entered Tosh's office. The walls were decorated with all sorts of awards and trophies. Not only that, but there were some from the Queen. Gregory looked at these closely. He had never saw anyone with awards from the Queen. He continued to look at the awards, until a portrait caught his attention. It was obviously Tosh. It seemed that his love for Pokemon had always been a part of his life. Gregory was then placed in a seat at a rather large desk. The colouring of it was beautiful. The only words to describe it were midnight black.

As the pair got comfortable, Tosh placed a glass of Pecha Berry juice, or what he assumed to be Pecha Berry juice. As he took a sip, Archie reappeared with the Pokeballs in his hand. Gregory smiled when he heard that The Raven was fit as a fiddle, and thanked him as he left the room. They were left alone in the room. As the door closed behind Archie, Tosh began to speak. Gregory could only listen, and nod occasionally. It seemed that Tosh was rather worried about the children of Istin. It was so good to hear someone speak with such passion. This was the first time in a while that Gregory was feeling good about himself.

It certainly was a lot to take in. Especially the part regarding kidnapping teams. The words then appeared. "I need you, Gregory." He sat for a second. No-one apart from Shaun had ever trusted him like this before. He continued to sit in silence, until Tosh mentioned about Glaceon, who was sitting on the desk next to The Raven. "Wait, Glaceon is my Pokemon now?" Gregory had remembered that he would be given a Pokemon upon completion of the task, but he was expecting something like a Wurmple, or Caterpie. "Tosh, are you sure? Glaceon." It seemed that he had actually made his mind up though.

He spoke again, advising Gregory to go out into Route 5 and capture another Pokemon, and hatch his egg. He had actually forgotten about the egg. "Lena had given that egg to him, so he was going to raise it with love and care. Gregory then looked to Tosh. He held his hand out. He had proposed a partnership to help the children of Istin. There was no way that he couldn't not help. Istin had been so kind to him, and it was about time that he showed that kindness back to it. The Pokemon in Route Five were usually a good bunch. Gregory had already decided on what sort of types he could look for, and with the two Incenses that he had in his bag, it could look for certain types.

Gregory glanced to his, now two, Pokemon. They both were smiling. He had two good partners already, a third would be awesome. He thrust his hand into Tosh's own hand. "It'll be an honour to work alongside you Tosh." Gregory smiled. "I want to get out into Route Five quickly. I can't wait to find some Pokemon in the wild. What type do you think I should go for Tosh?" Gregory questioned. "I think a Rock or Ground type. It would be good coverage for Fire and Electric types, or a normal type... or a Psychic type." So it seemed that Gregory had no idea what type of Pokemon he wanted. His eyes then widened. He realised what sort of Pokemon he wanted. "Maybe even a Wurmple or Cascoon!" He grinned clapping his hands. The Raven, seemed to smile more. It seemed that Shaun was happy that Gregory was going to work with Tosh.

Tosh stood from his chair, motioning for Gregory to join his side. He threw open the curtains covering two large windows. The view was glorious despite the building not standing taller than two stories. The Istin Guard Wall shimmered in the sun light, Guardians paced the streets, and the occasional civilian walked side by side with Pokemon of every size, shape, and color. It was truly a beautiful sight to behold. Tosh threw open both windows, letting a brisk breeze in that washed over both men. While Gregory was captivated by the scene, Tosh went behind him to grab The Raven and Glaceon's Pokeballs. Putting a finger to his lips to request silence, Tosh grinned and winked as he returned both Pokemon to their balls and strapped the balls to Gregory's belt.

A shrill whistle pierced the air, Tosh being the one who delivered it. He looked over at Gregory, grin still in position. "For you? Any type of Pokemon would work. Spread your wings and fly into the world. You have the skills and potential to become a legend, brother! Something I want you to remember... Only the strongest can control the Pokemon you're about to see. He'll be taking you to Route Five. Good luck to you, Gregory! I'll be looking forward to seeing you again soon!" A shadow passed over the window and quickly disappeared as Gregory was suddenly lifted into the air. Tosh had grabbed him by the back of the belt and tossed him out the window.

As he fell, the shadow returned. Strong orange arms wrapped around his mid section and began to carry him into the sky. A roar pierced the sky, a signal to Tosh to let him know Gregory had been caught. The body Gregory was being pressed against felt like pure sunshine hitting his skin, a warmth that was both tolerable and appreciated. Gregory had been caught by the biggest Charizard he had ever seen. The monstrous fire lizard dove bomb to the ground as he passed through the gates of Istin, slowing itself with heavy wing beats as he approached the ground. The Charizard let Gregory down the ground, giving him a thumbs up before beating his wings even harder than before to skyrocket back into Istin.

Route Five was a desolate and barren as ever. Anyone out in this area was either bound for working in the mines, crossing through the mines to reach the great bridge that spanned the roaring river south of the cavern, or they were on their way to Istin. Majority of Pokemon in the area took residence in the tunnels to avoid the elements. If Gregory wanted to find a new partner, he would be best served to start moving south the to the tunnel entrances. Where Charizard had dropped him off, he was only a five minute walk away. Now to get started on training for Tosh's secret mission!

Gregory was awestruck when Tosh threw open the curtains revealing the most amazing view that he had ever seen. The windows were then opened. As he allowed the breeze to caress his face, he wasn't away of what Tosh was doing. He had picked the two Pokeballs up from his desk. Gregory then felt the two Pokeballs being attached to his belt. It seemed that Tosh was up to something, but Gregory wasn't going to be rude and question his new partner in business. Gregory got a huge shock when a high pitched whistle filled the air.

Gregory glanced back to Tosh who was grinning... A little too much perhaps?? Gregory smiled back when Tosh spoke of which type of Pokemon that Gregory should set out to capture. However, he was rather intrigued by what Tosh then said regarding being strong to control a certain Pokemon. 'Wait, what?' Gregory was about to turn around and question Tosh, when he felt his feet leave the floor. This wasn't right in his head, he kicked his legs a little when he was then thrown out of the window. 'What the hell is he doing? What the f*** is he doing, i'll be dead.. I'll be no use to him.' He was about to shout expletives at Tosh, however a roar filled the sky. It was huge. Gregory then closed his eyes thinking that it was the end.

Gregory then felt arms around him, it was strange. Whatever had caught him, was really warm. He opened his eyes to see that he was in arms of a rather large Charizard. Gregory couldn't speak. He knew that he was safe, but by jove was it one hell of a big Pokemon. It moved with some speed, and precision. It was obvious that this Pokemon was trained to the highest degree. The face it managed to pass through the gate of Istin safely after performing a dive bomb proved it. Within seconds, or so it seemed, Gregory was placed upon the ground. Charizard then began to beat it's wings and flew back towards Istin. It seemed that Tosh had given him a helping hand to Route 5.

Gregory immediately went into mission mode when he glanced around. Route 5 was desolate. 'Could it be even more desolate than when I first arrived.' He glanced around. He knew the only people in this route would be either heading to the mines to work, or heading towards Istin. Whatever the case, he also knew that Pokemon wouldn't be just out and about in the Route, they would be hiding from the harsh elements in the tunnels. Shaun had taught him that much. Gregory took a deep breath then rotated his head, as if he had a crick he wanted to get rid of. 'Well, while i'm walking I can think of a name for our new partner, I s'pose.' Gregory thought to himself, whilst smiling. He already owned a flying type, and he had just managed to get himself an ice type.

He headed south. He knew exactly what needed to happen. He needed to bond through battle, find a new Pokemon and hatch the egg that Lena had given to him. Gregory was also aware that if he was desperate he could use one of the two Incenses that he had managed to acquire from random Abra that seemed to have taken a liking to him.

[0.7 EXP for last post.]

(OOC- You would get a roll that puts you with one of my favorite Pokemon. Ha ha.)

The route remained deserted. The only Pokemon in the area were a Cubchoo and Vanillite, throwing snowballs at one another. Where as they might be tempting prey to some, Gregory was not in that crowd due to another presence. A very large Beartic was watching over the scene, staring down Gregory as he walked along the pathway to the tunnels. Realizing Gregory wasn't a threat, the Beartic went back to watching the little ones play. A flock of Vullaby and Mandibuzz flew a ways overhead, squawking annoyingly to announce their coming as they went North to Istin.

Aside from the handful of Flying and Ice types that had been passed, not a soul stirred on the route. The entrance to the Route Five tunnel system was equally deserted, not even a rock-type Pokemon to greet Gregory. Torches lined the entrance of the cavern, clearly meant for travelers to grab one to light their way. A sudden shift in the shadows caused the scene to change drastically. A young girl in a thick brown cloak approached Gregory, her blue eyes shining brilliantly in the torchlight. She lowered her hood to reveal a shock of bronze colored hair and a small smile.

"Hail, traveler! It's been a few days since I've seen someone so I'm happy to have you here. On your way to work the mines or just passing through? Either way, here's a torch and a map of the tunnels! My name is Titania, I work for Istin as a greeter and guide in these parts of the mountain range. Would you like me to travel with you as a guide? I only charge 50 gold pieces for my service!" The girl seemed ecstatic, clearly she really hadn't seen a traveler in recent times. Solitude was a strange thing, it could make almost any human friendly. Solitude in a dark place, though? That would make even the hardest criminal a teddy bear. Lucky for Gregory, his run in was with a youth and not someone who could be described as a criminal.

A stirring in the shadows caused Gregory's guide to point her torch deeper into the tunnels. Torchlight shimmered off the rocky walls of the tunnel, illuminating the darkness within. A strange shining object caused the guide to let out a small gasp. Blue eyes turned to face Gregory and his guide, a small silver and black creature looked at both of them with curious eyes. "Sir! That's an Aron! They usually stick to the inner parts of the mountains! This is a delightful surprise!" Gregory's possible guide was covering a smile, she was clearly quite giddy about the appearance of an Aron. The Steel-type continued to eye his newly found company before making a grunting sound and turning around.

"Sir! Would you like to follow him? Or would you prefer we get on with our travels? Oh... Wait... Do you want to hire me? Please do it, sir. I need some adventure in my life. It's been weeks since I've gotten the chance to show someone through the tunnels!" The girl looked up at Gregory, her face full of worry. Was she really that interested in showing Gregory through the tunnels? No matter what Gregory's answer was, his first wild Pokemon encounter was slowly walking out of his sight. He would have to make a choice quickly or lose out on his first wild Pokemon battle.
