Quick Updates

Weather Conditions

Season: Autumn

With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

Ah, who knew if it was the right thing or not. Clearly, it would be an adventure for Emily to learn about her decision. With her new Sentret tucked away safely in his ball, Emily was finally on her way for an adventure. But the question was, what adventures would wait for her?

The shop keep was definitely more annoyed at her, despite the fact that she was (previously) a paying customer, and wouldn't bother to give her much more of a rather rude sounding grunt should she eve be interested in any of his wears. It'd probably be best for her to get a move on. That was okay -- Marchton City, while small and tucked away on the coast, definitely had plenty to do.

The first place Emily could look was the message board, where several pieces of pidgey-parchment were scrawled upon and tacked up with sharp little pieces of metal. If she decided to stray this way and look, she'd find some rather... ahem... interesting choices to choose from:

QUOTE
HELP NEEDED. It's important. Can't write about it. Come to the Pied Pier by noon. Ask for Noah.

Well, good thing it was.... oh, say, eleven twenty. The Pied Pier was a little saloon on the docksides towards the ports of Marchton, tucked away in a small alleyway that would be hard to miss. Perhaps it'd be something Emily would want to look into. If she headed that way and asked around for Noah, she'd be met with a rather straggly looking man who never quite looked at her in the face...

Besides that one, there was also a rather well etched one that seemed to be more... formally written:

QUOTE
Looking for help for a very specific mission. Will pay nicely. House and food provided for the duration. Must be comfortable leaving Marchton. If interested, come to the Forks in the Road and ask for Annebeth. Any time between 10 and 2.

The Forks in the Road was a little restaurant -- if it could even be called that -- that was aptly named. It sat on the corner of a two way intersection, and was, well, quote on quote a "fork in the road". Who knew what this job would pay, especially if house and food were provided... and, of course, should she go this route, Annebeth would greet her with a smile, ask to take her break from waiting on rather irritated seeming customers, and lead Emily into a small and cozy room just beyond the counter and offer her a seat in a rather plush looking sofa.

Of course, if neither of those were interesting to Emily, she could also poke around and attempt to catch, harass or bother the stray Pokemon lurking about:

- hopping around in a small puddle, clearly having the time of their lives

Scout instantly leaped up to Emily's shoulder, twining his tail around Emily's neck and rubbing up against her happily. He never wanted to be separated from Emily as long as he lived. "So what should we do now," Emily muttered to herself more than anyone else. Scout cocked his head to one side, shrugging his shoulders. Great, no bright idea would be coming from him. But the moment he thought of something to do, Emily had no doubt he wouldn't hesitate to speed off, dragging Emily with him wherever he went.

Emily took quick stock of how little money she had left. "Maybe we should go try and make some extra cash," she muttered to herself, slipping between the crowd towards the message board. Suddenly Scout perked up, swinging his head toward one of the stalls, nose twitching, and ears flicking this way and that. Before Emily could so stop him, Scout leaped off her shoulder, landing gently on the ground and dashing around people's feet, making his way to one of the stalls. "Scout!" Emily cried, giving chase after her troublesome Pokemon.

Scout peered underneath the stall, cocking his head to one side, always the curious Pokemon. "Scout don't run off--" Emily stopped mid-sentence. "What is it?" she asked, feeling on edge.

Suddenly Scout hissed, jumping back and fur ruffled as he spotted the Gastly, tail curling around his flank protectively. He froze for a minute, scared to tear his eyes off the ghost type for even a minute before suddenly turning around and lunging back onto to Emily's shoulder, looking to her for protection. Emily froze, going tense. There was only one thing Scout was afraid of, or at least only one thing he'd admit to being afraid of: ghost types.

Emily shook off her initial sense of dread and fear and crouched down to be at eye-level with the Gastly, peering under the stall. "Why hello," Emily greeted, trying to look as friendly as possible. "Sorry about Scout, being a normal type he's not too fond of ghosts." Emily tried to hide the fact that she was tense and just a little scared of Gastly as she was of all ghost types. It appeared Scout's fear of them had spread to her, but it was more of a wariness than fear, Emily hadn't had much contact with them to be too afraid. But based on what she did know of them, she didn't want Gastly to take notice of her fear, but then again she didn't like when anyone caught her afraid. She waited, tense, to see what the Gastly would do...

{.6 exp; sorry for the delay in this!}

Suffice to say, despite Scout’s hissing, the Gastly wasn’t doing anything to harm or hinder. Scout suddenly appearing, though, did indeed startle the Pokemon. Its eyes flashed angrily as the Sentret seemed to hiss at it and the purple of the gas Pokemon seemed to turn even darker. It didn’t seem to be happy at all, and it was clear that since it wasn’t hurting anything, Scout’s unnecessary hatred towards him was, well, unnecessary.

The Gastly didn’t seem to take to Emily’s apology. Not only was it out during the time of day where he couldn’t hide, he was also now in a bad mood. He didn’t want to come out to be attacked. The Gastly slid effortlessly through the table that sat above it and stared angrily – or maybe sadly? – towards Emily and the one named ‘Scout’. The ghost could sense and was happily feeding off the way this girl and her Pokemon reacted. Typical of a ghost, it enjoyed the tasty little snack despite its mood. Now, it wanted more.

“Gasssss~” it hummed darkly. Even the stray passersby or three, who glanced towards Emily and Scout and the newly discovered Gastly, felt the shiver of terror run up their spines. It was clear that this Gastly was not going to just happily accept Emily’s apology for the hostile and perhaps rude way her Pokemon approached it. In fact, if anything, Scout seemed to have… well… maybe triggered something in the other Pokemon.

The Gastly reared its floaty head back and with a “Gaaaaast!” seemed to be collected something in its mouth. A large glob of purple slush shot out after a moment and slid almost effortlessly passed the two. Of course, it didn’t miss, just… didn’t hit fully. The bubbly liquid hit the tail of Scout, and it was clear that the Sentret’s hissing had, of course, sparked an aggressive comeback.

What would Emily do? Would she try to mediate this fight, or let Scout fight and attempt to catch the Gastly? The choice was all hers, but she'd have to make it quick.

Scout squealed as the Sludge Bomb touched his skin, leaping back and whisking his tail close, holding it to his body. He growled, baring his fangs, feeling even more threatened. The Sentret's eyes glowed red in a Foresight attack, just as he bunched his muscles to leap forward. Emily lunged in front of Scout then, holding her arms back to keep Scout from further angering the Gastly. "Scout stop!" she barked. "Calm down."

"He started it," Scout snarled, peering past his handler to glare at the Gastly, wondering if he could dart past Emily for an attack. Emily turned to fact Gastly then, keeping herself between Scout and Ghost-type Pokemon. "Gastly we really mean you no harm," she pleaded. "We had no intention of startling you and didn't even know you were there."

Scout grunted rudely. "I thought Gastly made it clear, he didn't care." Emily, of course, had no understanding of what Scout said, she only heard the rudeness in his voice and shot him a glare. "Would you stop!" she snapped, "you're not helping." Scout grumbled to himself, turning to groom any remaining sludge from his fur, losing interest in the argument. Either let him fight or leave him out of it. Still, Scout felt himself tense up, keeping a wary eye on the Gastly, ready to defend himself and his handler if it chose to attack again.

Scout didn't make a good choice, and that was clear. The Gastly, in fact, wasn't doing anything bad. The ghost type might not have been the friendliest, but it definitely didn't deserve the hissing. As the handler tried to calm down the rat-like Pokemon, the gastly's eyes narroed as the other pointed out the Gastly started it. "That's a lie, you stupid piece of Pokemon." it hissed towards Scout, although all Emily would hear would be a rather angry sounding Gaaaaaaast.

There was no use for Emily to try and talk the Ghost type out of it. The more that Scout spoke, the more the once frightened Pokemon got. Of course, if Scout hadn't jumped towards the gastly without making assumptions, this would've turned out better, but... he didn't, and now they'd be having this. The gastly moved, a little bit away but still hovering over the table, his eyes trained soly on Scout. If Emily got in the way, so be it. He had no qualms about hurting her. Her Pokemon insulted him, anyways.

How was Emily going to handle this? The Gastly was just acting out in a way to get the pokemon and handler away from it. It may be angry, but... was that the only emotion it saw?

Even so, the Gastly allowed another purple glob to gather in its mouth, and it spat it angry at the Sentret. It hit both the Pokemon and, by extension, the handler, although the gooey liquid would sting Emily's skin, but not hurt besides that. Uncomfortable, but not unbareable. Scout got hit the most.

It was clear that this Gastly was going to make Scout pay for what he said, even though Emily couldn't understand what was exchanged.

Emily may not have been able to understand the Gastly but she heard the venom in its voice. "Shit..." she said in a drawn out way right before it shot the Venoshock at them. All Emily could do was hold her arm up to block the poison from splashing into her face. She clenched her teeth in pain as it stung her skin but all she did was fling it off, fed up with the attack when she was just trying to help!

Scout on the other hand was taken off guard by the sudden attack, having not paid too close attention to the aggressive Ghost type. He yelped in pain, leaping back. He spat any poison that had dribbled into his mouth out. "This will take forever to clean!" he complained loudly, throwing his tail away in disgust. He turned his full attention on the Gastly, his ears flicking in annoyance.

"That attack was so not needed!" Emily snapped, clenching her fists and ready for a fight. If Gastly wanted to battle, so be it. "Scout use foresight."

"My pleasure," Scout purred, glad to see Emily had finally come to her senses. With a twitch of his tail and a flick of his ears, his eyes began to glow an ominous red as he dug his claws into the ground for purchase, ready to fling himself at the Gastly.

"Now use Defense Curl," Emily ordered as Sentret curled himself into a tight ball, squeezing himself together as he felt his defense get boosted. He then flung himself back open, crouching back, wanting to make that Gastly pay for ruining his beautiful fur. "Now use Swagger," Emily shouted.

Scout glanced at her in surprise, flinching as if he had been struck. Here he was ready to lung at the Gastly with an ACTUAL attack, but instead Emily just want to make it a little confused. That wasn't going to win any fight! Scout growled under his breath, forcing his fur to lie flat as he beat his anger down. Scout rose up on his hind tail to tower above the Gastly, crossing his arms in front of his chest while he glared down at it intimidatingly with glowing red eyes, using his Swagger attack. He still couldn't believe Emily thought Swagger would be useful in any fight...
