Weather Conditions

Season: Autumn

With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

New Posts The Windjammer
Where the eastern edge of Cape Augustine and the endless sea press against each other like the truest of lovers, a great hulk of a ship leans against the city's walls, drawn up on he sand. Its style is one both familiar and dated, a classic Carrack, paint peeled away and boards weathered to the softness of well-smoothed driftwood until only its name stands proud still. Windjammer. In so tidy a city, it is an outlier -- until you look closer. A rope bridge sways in the wind, wide and well-kept, between the ship's tilted deck and a hole in the city's wall guarded by a portcullis lifted politely away. Someone has constructed a series of stages from the tilted deck, like giant's stairs that create level places for tables.

Yes, the Windjammer, the Cape's oldest, largest, and most famous tavern!

Nary a night goes by without at least two of the great old ship's decks coming alive with cityfolk and travelers both, lanterns swinging from the rigging and music emanating not only from the open air of the upper deck performers in their finery, but also from within the hull where the common people raise their tankards to bawdy shanties and moving, classic ballads sung only slightly less competently than for the wealthy above their heads.

The Windjammer is renowned as a place where one can see all of Cape Augustine and the richest and poorest must rub shoulders to pass onto the ship. The place is watched with care by the barbacks and serving boys and girls, but a few coins crossing palms makes them look the other way now and again. Nevertheless, anyone who is anyone has spent many a night deep in their drinks in the 'Jammer!

New Posts Market D'Estelle
While technically named after the region's first major trans-Marratic trading family, it has popularly been said that the name comes from the saying that "Anything but the stars themselves can be bought in the Market on the Cape." Still others say the name comes from the way the Market itself is not one singular affair but rather has expanded from its nucleus in the large and historic (but woefully inadequate in the modern day) market square into a network or constellation of markets throughout the city which are held concurrently and are connected by corridors of people moving between them like strands of web.

While the center market square remains home to an inimitable variety of goods for sale, the satellite markets tend to specialise in a particular sort of goods, country of origin, or price point -- oftentimes dependent on the part of the city they are situated in. The Grand Market is held once a month, livening up the city from dawn until late into the night, but each Qwilsday the Market D'Estelle hosts the more traditional market fare of produce, baking, meats, and assorted useful goods. The traditional Qwilsday market closes at dusk, and the larger market squares are much-patrolled by the Guardians, whose headquarters faces out onto the central market square.
