Quick Updates

Weather Conditions

Season: Autumn

With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

Character: ArkBoaz Reuter

Full Name: ArkBoaz “Ark” Reuter | Goes by “the Honorable Boaz Reuter” when in formal company
Age: Twenty-Five
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual, but flexible

Class: Order of the Masque Rogue
Starting City: Fough Place
Patron or Trick Lord: Trick Lord Gould
Notches: Lv.01 [ 1.9 / 5 ]
Total Level: Lv.01 [ 1.9 / 5 ]
Condition: Fine
Aptitudes

Overall Appearance:
ArkBoaz is an almost spit image of his father when the old man was younger, which is a rather shocking comparison to bring up to him. He does have quite a few of his mother’s qualities, though, which he’s overly thrilled about.

Ark stands at about five feet, nine inches high, which isn’t the most intimidating size for a boy his age. While he doesn’t mind his height, it’s definitely not something he got from his father – who stands at least four inches taller than him. Even so, Ark stands straight with his shoulders back and his head up, his chin ever so slightly jutted forwards in an act of almost intimidating power. Ark’s height doesn’t diminish his looks, though, not at all. He’s rather well fed, but he isn’t fat or overweight. He has some fat on his bones, but it shapes his body out well, instead of being overly distracting.

Because of his work, his arms are much more rounded or filled out than his legs are. His upper torso also has the strength behind the anvil and hammer, pliers and pulls that he has to use for locksmithing. His hands are calloused and not much of a noble’s soft hands that betray not actually doing things – it’s one of those things that Ark was very desperate to prove early on. Ark’s hands are strong and powerful, although have the quick and nimble fingers he needs for his job.

Ark’s face is rather handsome – he has a rounder, more oval, face, with a broad forehead and rather high cheekbones. His skin, despite his father’s pale skin, is more of his mother’s natural tanned color, and he is quite happy that he’s gotten that. He doesn’t burn easily, but his hair does change color because of the sun. Naturally, Ark’s hair is a dark brown, but as the sun bleaches it, it’s more a dirty blond color, sometimes even a sandy blond. He keeps his hair cut short, never letting it fall below the top of his ears, and generally pushes it up and out of his eyes and lets it fall wherever the part is that day. He really isn’t much of someone to care about his appearance all that much.

Ark’s eyebrows are well tailored and are the natural dark color of his hair. He doesn’t have any moles on his face, although he does have lines that cross over his forehead, especially when he frowns or is thinking. His eyes are his favorite feature of himself, though; they’re a mix of his father’s bright baby blues, with just the tint of his mother’s brown – he has bright blue eyes, but they have a little tint of green around the iris, which is more or less obvious when he’s outside than anything. It does cause a bit of a stir when he meets new people, but he doesn’t let it bother him all that much.
Distinguishing Features:
  • Almost a spitting image of his father when his father was twenty-five
Overall Personality:
The first thing that most people notice about Ark is the fact that he is a very undemanding young man. While he holds himself up with grace and poise, he doesn’t say much, unless he absolutely needs to. This is because he holds his tongue to see what’s going to go on, and would rather let things go before he decides to speak. This is a virtue, considering his familial position, and the way he has to react to things. Having a son that blew up about the silliest things, or that couldn’t agree even though he didn’t like something would be a shame on the Dodgeson name. It was definitely something that Ark had to learn early on in his life.

Ark is tentatively a ‘mysterious’ person – not because he actually is mysterious, but he’s a rather closed off person, and doesn’t show his own feelings or thoughts outright. It’s not because he chooses to be mysterious; oh, no; it’s definitely because Ark decides that anyone’s business is their own, and he doesn’t decide to share his own. Ark has bright ideas, and when he feels comfortable enough to share what he’s feeling, he is very concise and pointed. If asked what he wanted in life, while Ark might not necessarily know, he does have a general idea. He’ll happily share that, if asked, or if he feels comfortable with someone.

Ark is a very, very independent man, and doesn’t allow himself to depend on others. If he has an idea of wanting something, he will openly seek out people or Pokemon that can help him get more and more independent in any sort of way. It was why he was so adamant about being outside of his father’s scope, and sought out locksmithing. It was something he was truly interested in, but he also wanted to prove that he could do something his father couldn’t. In fact, his independence is definitely one of the biggest things that Ark grew because he didn’t want to anything similar to his father.

Speaking of his father, Ark is very bitter about his family. While he has fine relationships with both his parents, the fact that Ark has tasted nobility and could never take his father’s seat is drastically annoying to him. When he’s compared to his father, Ark gets extremely annoyed, and will cut off most conversations within the next three sentences. In fact, if he’s compared to his father in anything he will actively choose to do things to prove that he could do things himself. His biggest motivation is being more than his father, and more than the Dodgeson familial line, a line that he never actually got to experience.

Ark tends to be a curious person, who watches more than he engages. He is a fidgeter – he always has one of the newer models of the lock stall’s locks in his hands, and he’s always idly locking and unlocking it. It has become a weird little quirk that most of Fough would recognize. It is definitely something he takes to calm himself down. Ark doubts that he’d ever get rid of this habit, and in terms of things like chewing nails or pulling hair, lock picking is definitely not all that bad.
History:
Everyone in Fough Place knew about Boaz Reuter before he was born. He was… how does one put it – the talk of the town.

Lord Cain Dodgeson and his wife, Rebecca, were expecting a child. Their first and only; their pride and joy. Teetering at the age of thirty, the Lord was already old enough to have graying hair, and his wife, just twenty-seven, was getting older by the minute. When she showed signs of pregnancy, they were ecstatic. Names were offered to the Lord and Lady, and the entire Fough Place were excited about the new birth of the child.

But the boy known as Boaz Reuter didn’t have a happy birth. Actually, it was far from that.

As the month of Artic started to come to a close, and the first day of Rema loomed, Rebecca went into labor. It was long and painful, and the entire town held their breaths. While everyone was excited for the birth – even the Lord himself – the day of birth would decide the future of the child. Would Boaz, the formal name of the new mini-Lord, be able to ascend his father’s seat? Or would he be an infamous Resolution day baby? This day wasn’t even all that important – of course, it was the change of the year, but this baby, this little boy, he was born on the Resolution day. He wasn’t a lord. He would never be a lord. It was almost a shame to the Dodgeson family.

It was quickly announced once he was old enough to walk and talk and sit in a seat without complaining that he was formally announced to Fough Place. Yes, before this, he was known, but with pressure from Rebecca, Cain made it a show. To Cain and Rebecca, he was Ark, or ArkBoaz, but to the world, he would be Boaz Reuters – the honorable. He would never take the seat, but he was still a member of the noble family, and it was expected to act as such.

Boaz was treated with respect, and learned the ways around Fough Place effortlessly. His childhood was rather uneventful – he enjoyed spending time more with his mother than he did with the Lord of the place, but that was because his mother was simple, and his father seemed to ooze power and skills that Boaz lacked. Then again, every time that Boaz was with his father, Cain Dodgeson would groom him in the ways of the court, or even to guide him to his future of a hopeful Guardian. The idea of being close in power without being in power was definitely the idealism that his father had.

But Ark didn’t find it very interesting. He enjoyed learning about court manners and the ideas of self-honor, but it wasn’t the same as the senior guardians and even the Councilmen and Councilwomen he’d meet. It was more of an honor that he enjoyed himself, a deep set independence that he wanted without having to deal with other people.

At the age of ten, Cain started to ask Ark what he wanted to do more seriously. He had pushed Ark into following around higher ranking senior Guardians to see what they did, but Ark had other plans. He allowed himself to follow along for two years, but then at twelve, he decided to not do that. He brought up working with his hands – and chose a hobby. He had gone about asking his mother what he thought about locksmiths, and when she was interested, he had pushed himself into trying to find someone to take him. It took a year to find someone who saw his passion – most locksmiths in Fough Place saw him, and listened to him, and told him to go do what his Daddy wanted. It was finally a man named Calvin who would sit and listen to him. He saw Ark’s relentless drive, and agreed to take him on as an apprentice.

Calvin was a stern but fair man, who encouraged Ark to explore himself, as well as his craft. It started with just watching, but slowly, Ark earned his trust to start making locks – basic ones, the super simple ones that could be cut with sharp pieces of metal, but didn’t involve anything fancy. Calvin encouraged Ark to work with other crafts men and women, too – for example, he had set up an apprenticeship with some local blacksmiths. With Cain’s pushing, too, apart of that was spent with the Councilwoman of Fough Place – Ms. Leanna Villis. It gave Ark an inside look at the guardians, but the young man was more decisive with his craft.

As he grew, his locksmithing duties did, too. He would learn how complicated locks were, and would assist Calvin in creating new locks, going from the melding of metal, to the twisting of the springs. He would learn how locks worked, how they’re effective, and would learn how to properly sell them. Cain and Rebecca were both extremely proud of him, but as he grew, the Lord showed more and more disinterst in his hobbies and pushed more and more towards the idea of guardianship. It constantly frustrated Ark, but he didn’t let it be known. He would simply grin and allow his father to think he was even remotely interested.

By the time Ark was nineteen, his father stopped quipping him about the guardianship and had openly said that if Ark was interested, they’d always welcome him with open arms. Ark smiled, grateful that his father finally stopped the conversation, and focused on his work. By now, Calvin wasn’t doing too good, and his son, still significantly older than Ark himself, had taken over the small locksmith stall. Ark moved from studying under Calvin to studying under Benjamin, enjoying the new tasks and talents from the other male. It was definitely a new experience.

For several more years, Ark was comfortable with where he was, and what he was doing. He had started to teach himself out to dismantle a lock – even locks he didn’t make – at the age of twenty. He would pop locks at night, but never come inside. It was more as a game at that point. Ark didn’t understand, nor did he care, for something as petty as theft. His favorite locks to pop were the ones in his father’s home, like to the gold and the rarer items. Like before, he never took anything – it was just more or less for practice.

For his twenty-fifth birthday, his mother gave him a Carbink, although he wasn’t sure what the story was behind it. Even though he had it, he cared for it, although he didn’t bother with it as his first Pokemon – it was more of a novelty Pokemon, more than a partner. After the recent Grand Festival, he had decided that he wanted to do more. It was when a girl just a few years younger than him sought him out, and questioned if he could break a lock. When the girl asked if he could get into a building, he agreed, and… well, everything else seemed to fall into place.

Time Zone: Japan time zone. For those in the USA east coast – that’s +13 hrs.
How did you find us? google, I think
Anything Else:I got the okay for his bloodline via rosieee

Also some marks – he stole his lock picking kit, but if he needs to buy it, simply take it out of his gold! I am transferring Nye’s Carbink to Ark, as well; please put it in his profile before the egg! Thanks <3.

Also, as a side note, I’mma just put up the general goals for Ark here, because otherwise I’m bound to forget them:
-> travel all of harper and really get a feel for his own feet
-> prove to everyone (esp. those in fough place) that he’s an independent man, and not some low class citizen b/c of his name/birthday
-> work his way up bit by bit to each trick and learn by their hands, really take his time to learn their craft
-> amusing future meeting w/ valarie (this is literally his last step); doesn’t know it yet though
