Weather Conditions

Season: Summer

The onset of the Summer season has led to a swarming of Fire-, Electric-, and Bug-types, overtaking most populations in the Region. In their place, Water- and Grass-types have retreated to the shade and to cooler areas, while Ice-types have all but vanished. The rising temperatures has also led to the annual thaw of the infamously cold Istin City, though it remains the coldest.

Full Name: Anne Capet
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Class: Order Rogue
Starting City: Maritime Industrial Park
Patron or Trick Lord: Trictess Valarie Barrie
Notches: Lv.01 [ 3.3 / 5 ]
Total Level: Lv.01 [ 3.3 / 5 ]
Condition: Fine
Aptitudes

Overall Appearance:
Anne is 5'10" and willowy with not many curves. Her hair is nearly as long as the midpoint of her back and she usually keeps it twisted up into some sort of bun when she's working, although she does prefer to have it loose whenever possible. Her hair is the color of chestnuts and mostly straight, although it does have a few waves. Her hair is thicker than she'd prefer it. Her eyes are hazel and very expressive; she tends to rely on her eyes when she wants to make a point. She is paler than the average Harper citizen from her wealthy upbringing combined with the fact when she goes outside, she gets a smattering of freckles across her cheeks that she hates. She almost never goes outside as a result, preferring to see scenery through a window than feel it in her fingers.

Her clothing is usually as ostentatious as possible considering the situation; when she's working on a mission, she'll show her taste for fine things by trying to get smooth leather or fancy armor once she can afford it. When she has an occasion to dress well, she really dresses well. Her favorite color is purple and if she had her way, she would wear a purple gown every day. She sometimes tucks flowers behind her ears if she's trying to look more innocent. Overall, though, she has a young-looking face that doesn't need to be embellished with flowers. She doesn't care much about shoes and will generally wear whatever kind of shoe doesn't make a loud noise, especially if she's trying to sneak around.
Distinguishing Features:
  • N/A
Overall Personality:
Anne grew up to be a cunning, ambitious woman who has few, if any, qualms about taking action against other people. Her loyalty is hard to earn, and she generally only tends to follow those who she thinks will be able to help her out in some way. She is very proud of both her family and herself, and considers herself a very emotionally strong and solid person even though she isn't very physically strong. She also has a very solid idea of how the world works and who she should be respectful to and who in turn should be respectful to her.

She highly values her father's opinion, and although she openly acknowledges some sort of loyalty to her birth mother in exchange for annoying her stepmother Anna, she dislikes her birth mother. She thinks that her birth mother did two things wrong - first, she didn't seek or blackmail her way into any sort of position of importance, and second, she let her child and only key to any further riches or success get taken away seemingly without a second thought. She resents her mother for not trying harder, although since empathy isn't Anne's strong point, she hasn't really considered what her mother had been going through or thinking at the time. In terms of her other family, she is okay with Anna's children, and she can never stop herself from smirking when someone else claims to be a bastard of the family. She believes that her position is no longer tenuous and the only way she can show that is by looking down on what she used to be and on the entire journey she took to get to where she is now.

For such a young woman, she has more regrets than would normally be expected. She regrets not standing up for herself earlier, perhaps by sucking up to her stepmother, and at the same time she regrets the fact that she never tried to remind her father of her little brother who died so young. She wishes she could have been more educated and advocated for herself to get an education like Anna's children. Even though her thoughts may dwell in these regrets, outwardly she professes that each day she puts the past behind her and doesn't want to be burdened by the remnants of her childhood.

Few people know the real Anne, and she likes it better that way. She would rather be a mystery than an open book, and she hates when people try to ask her probing questions or get too nosy about her past or her feelings. She often prefers to be alone, although if she wants to achieve some sort of mission, she prefers to work with others so that she can do things that are more complicated than what one person would usually be able to do by themselves. She tends to overestimate her skills, and she is no stranger to bragging to the right people at the right time so she can get the information or the jobs she needs. Originally, she started doing rogueish work to get some extra money, but she quickly learned that information is power, especially among the rich. This piqued her interest and for the past few years, she has been slowly becoming more accustomed to using more formal occasions such as her half-brother Guillaume's wedding to advance her social standing.

She tends to fall more into the traditional role of a bard than an assassin. She doesn't want to cultivate a fearful presence because she relies on being around others to complete her missions, and she very much enjoys the fancy things of society. She is very drawn to valuable items and pokemon, perhaps as a desire to prove that if she can own one of these, she deserves the better things in life. She tends to take a little while to do criminal activity, taking her time to scout the areas and find out potentially damaging secrets about her targets rather than simply sniping them. She loves to deal in blackmail and when she wants to gather any sort of information about a place, person, or pokemon, she considers herself very much above the law. She would rather take the time to ensure a job is done right than rush into something headfirst and risk getting discovered. When she is around fancy company, she introduces herself as Lady Anne, staking her newfound pride in her identity on the success of her missions.
History:
When a very wealthy man named Phillip Capet married a woman named Anna, nearly the entire village near where he lived in his large home in the outskirts of Seaway attended. Although the wedding was extravagant and his bride was very beautiful, Phillip found himself attracted to a young woman who served as a gardener in another wealthy man's home. Always coveting what couldn't be his, Phillip courted the young gardener, who whispered her name, Biancha, in his ear as he danced with her on his own wedding day.

It wasn't long until Phillip, whose wealth made him accustomed to getting everything he wanted, started having an affair with Biancha. His wife Anna knew what was going on, and looked on with a mixture of jealousy and disdain as she saw that Biancha, who had since quit her job and moved to a small cottage nearby, was pregnant. There was no doubt that the baby girl was Phillip's - her beautiful eyes mirrored his own jubilant ones - and yet, he was unwilling to acknowledge the child as his own. He called the baby Anne in a futile attempt to honor his wife and let the baby live with her mother in the cottage.

Anne lived a peaceful life with her mother for four years, until her mother became pregnant again. Since she had still not managed to marry, it was assumed the baby was Phillip's again, which only provoked more ire from the childless Anna. When the baby was born, Phillip rejoiced at the birth of a son, yet the baby was small and sickly from the day he was born. The baby, Gil, lived for thirteen months and then passed away of a simple childhood illness. Biancha, inconsolable at the loss of her beloved younger child, became withdrawn from Anne. It wasn't long before Phillip noticed how she didn't seem to take care of her daughter anymore, and without consulting Anna, he took the little girl home to raise - still a bastard, but now taken into his house.

This small action started the main problem of Phillip's life, considering that more and more poor women started coming forward and saying that their babies were his in a desire to get their children under his protection. Anna became more tolerant of her husband's dalliances once she herself had a son, Guillaume, who she pretended to name for the deceased child who her husband had sired. After Guillaume, she had two daughters, Margot and Cecily, who she doted upon and provided for in a grand fashion with her husband's money.

Little Anne did not get the same love that Anna bestowed upon her children. Although she always had enough to eat and wear, she envied the way the other children had a mother. The poor women in the village who tried to push their children on Phillip seemed to be nice mothers, and Anna herself was a kind and loving mother to her three children. As a young child, she was envious, but it didn't take her long to realize that she had a privilege none of the other children had.

She had her father's ear, and more importantly, his love. He doted on her and gave her gifts and spent afternoons showing her his pokemon and how he taught them moves. If she asked him for something, or even made a small complaint about anyone or anything, he did his best to accommodate her and do what she wanted. Whether this came from a desire to make amends for the wrongs he had done or a way to try to get Anna to love Anne, Anne matured with a conflicted idea of who she was.

Was she simply a bastard like the other children who the poor mothers tried to push onto Phillip? By the time she was eighteen, the claims had only recently stopped at twenty-two children he supposedly fathered. While some definitely had recognizable features of the Capet family, many others were simply being pushed forward in an attempt to get some money. Anne felt an odd sort of kinship with these children, whose places in the world were also less assured, and yet she was told that her half-brother Guillaume's wedding would be a time where she would make a debut, of sorts, as her father's daughter.

She had been working on him since Guillaume had been engaged to the daughter of another wealthy man in the Seaway area. She had dropped hints that she felt unloved, and the more he tried to do for her, the more she spurned him. She led him along until finally she expressed a wish to join in with the family's celebrations instead of being relegated to her room when the time came as she had many times in her youth. Her father, overjoyed to find a way to make his daughter love him again, quickly acquiesced and bought her a beautiful gown.

At Guillaume's wedding, although Anne was introduced simply as "Anne Capet" rather than the titles Phillip had bestowed upon his family for no better reason than to distinguish them from the bastards. She longed to be introduced as Lady Anne as her half-sisters had been introduced as ladies, and as Guillaume and his new bride danced in the ballroom, she crept around the crowds and tried to glean as much information as she could. At eighteen, she still looked like a young teen and her sweet smile helped her make some money when she managed to blackmail someone by the end of the evening. From that evening forward, she was dedicated to a single purpose - getting recognized as a legitimate child of her father - which seemed an impossible goal. She would have to work very hard at the arts of concealing herself to gain her wish.

It took four years. Only four years to achieve her objective. She would never call herself simply Anne again, she decided, whether or not the Capets had a legitimate right to call themselves lords and ladies after all. She would be Lady Anne, and yet the power that she had learned to exert over people to achieve her goal had awakened a greedy desire in her heart. Now that she had achieved her only dream, now that she had the family and the love she had always wanted, and even Anna had to be kind to her, she was unsatisfied. She was determined, at the party her father said he would throw for her, to find a way to get even more. She was no longer happy to be the equal of her half-siblings, she had to surpass them. And, as things turned out, an encounter in the forest would lead to an opportunity for this...
