Quick Updates

Weather Conditions

Season: Autumn

With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

Aptitudes

Overall Appearance:
Standing at a rather impressive height of 6' 2'', Ameridan stands out in the upper category of height among average Harperians. His body is decently proportioned, but his body appears to be full of lean muscle rather than bulky muscle. Due to this, he is a very good runner and climbing, but is not that great in a straight up brawl. With a pale skin tone, his appearance often makes him look a bit ghostly, but his smile makes him shine. He thinks of himself as a handsome man with a strong nose and a solid jaw line, though he is not above getting dirty if necessary. He has long black hair that reaches to his neck, but he keeps it swept back. One strand of his hair is braided and is along the right side of his face.

Oddly enough, his clean shaven face makes him look mature, often making people wonder how contradictory his personality is compared to his face. A smile is always on his face, and even his body language tends to express humor and a lack of tension as a result. His manner of dress - a pair of leather pants, a leather shirt, and leather boots all gives him the appearance of a rogue or a common thief. Though he also has an odd memento, a blue bandage on his arm. This bandage is particularly important to him, as it is a memento of his late love.

His eyes gleam a shining black and seem to gleam with humor and joy. He also has a tic when he starts getting upset – his left eye twitches, though his smile never seems to fade when he is upset. He has a few scars on his body, but nothing too noticeable unless one were to undress him and they would find a scar over his right knee - the result of a broken bone when he was younger and practicing his climbing.
Distinguishing Features:
  • Tic with his left eye
  • Scar on right knee
  • Blue Bandage on left arm
Overall Personality:
“Greetings! I am… Ameridan! A pleasure to make your acquaintance!”

Ameridan is someone who is the exact opposite of what you think a rogue might be in how he acts. Loud, humorous, perky, helpful, he defies what would be considered a sneak rogue. A smile is almost always seen on his face no matter the circumstance or trouble he might get into. However, this does not mean that he is always happy and joyous – his left eye twitches when he is upset and is a rather obvious tic to anyone who meets him. Of course, when he can help it he will always try to be in a good mood no matter the circumstance or situation.

He likes to crack up jokes, sometimes even terrible ones just to make things humorous even when it might be at sword-point. Ameridan is also a flirt and will take a chance to flirt with people he considers to be rather attractive. The prime reason Ameridan is a happy, joking flirt is because he feels that life should be more fun and that it is better to live in the moment than think about the future. This thinking also applies to what he thinks about doing jobs, for he will do them now but not necessarily think about the problems that may come down the line with a job. While it may cause him to get into some sticky situations that he could have easily prevented himself from being, it does not matter to him. As he likes to call it, he “goes with what he feels like at that moment in how he wants to get the job done.”

While his personality is not very good for someone who is required to be sneaky or stab-happy as one might call it, he has charisma. Ameridan likes to speak, and due to his life of living on the street, has learned from listening to merchants and vendors in how to be persuasive. There was a special merchant who taught him for a period of time in how to be persuasive, and Ameridan took the lessons to heart. Granted, he is not by any means someone with a silver tongue – but he does his best to be like that kind of person. Though combined with his cheerful personality, he finds it easier to persuade some people who like his personality compared to others.

An activity Ameridan likes to do is to climb around and check out views from high areas. Part of this is due to growing up on the street, where one of the easiest ways to escape from people going after you was to climb up to the rooftops and escape through them. He hopes to one day climb the highest peak in the entire region and see what it looks like from the very top. If possible, he would like to have pokemon that are capable of helping him with such a feat and journey.
History:
Ameridan, a no-name that was orphaned from birth as far as he knew. The orphanage that took him in only knew that he showed up on their doorstep one day with no name or any indication of who left him there. While the matron of the orphanage was a rather kind woman and looked after the children well, it was a rough time for young Ameridan. He did not have a name and refused to be given one for a few years until as he would say, had a prophetic dream from Arceus to take the name Ameridan. Whether or not that is true is unknown, but Ameridan says that was the case, which is why it is an awesome name.

The children of the orphanage weren’t exactly the best crowd to be with, as they often were mean and spiteful of those they didn’t like. They particularly didn’t like Ameridan as no matter what they did, they could never wipe the smile off of his face. Only once did they see him not smile, and that was the time when the matron of the orphanage passed away. Even then, it was such a brief moment that they were not sure if they actually saw his neutral expression or not. Eventually, around ten years of age, he left the orphanage because of the new matron who took over – she was not very friendly and particularly disliked how exuberant he was.

As he found himself on the streets, he had some trouble for a while because people often gave him suspicious looks due to the fact he was alone and his clothes seemed a little ragged. However, he learned how to use his positive personality to a great effect – he was able to make people smile by doing silly tricks or asking silly jokes in public. This helped him earn some food and a little bit of money, not a lot but enough to survive. Though he did not have enough for shelter and was forced to use discarded supplies to create small shelters to sleep in at night time.
Later, he ran afoul of a group of street urchins who did not like that he was in their territory, and was promptly chased by them. When he ended up being cornered in an alley, Ameridan tried something incredibly stupid and attempted to climb up the walls to see if he could escape to the rooftops. Surprisingly, using a great deal of agility and momentum, he almost made it to the very top. But as he was about to reach for the edge to grab onto the rooftop, he saw a sight that made him pause – a view of a large part of the city he was in. Unfortunately, this pause made him miss his grab and he fell on top of one of the urchins. While he was saved from harm with the body below him as a cushion, he was beaten up by the rest of the gang.

Interestingly, after he was beaten up and the group noticed he still had a smile on his face, the leader, a young girl around the age of 13 by the name of Anna told him that she was interested in how well he did in climbing. Though he failed, she saw how he was able to climb up a wall when no one in the group could replicate such a feat. So while he was bruised and bloodied, she extended an invitation to join their group – the Crows – and they would help him out if he did the same in return. While she was expecting him to deny her due to the beating they gave, she was surprised when he stood up shakily and gave his acceptance.

Thus was the beginning of a beautiful partnership and family for Ameridan, the orphan who had grown without a family or friends to call his own. The Crows had done all sorts of things over the years Ameridan was with them – little things like pickpocketing, thievery, or putting on a show while others did stole items. Ameridan, with his merry personality, was chosen to do the latter. With his charming smile and jovial countenance, Ameridan was rather good at attracting people to pay attention to him. Though he was not perfect – sometimes the local guards would come by, and he would have to make a hasty escape. What made him stand out though, was that for many hours, he practiced for hours to climb up walls, fences, and objects to escape. It was grueling, and he suffered bruises and even a broken bone after a bad test, but he pushed himself to be able to do it.

As he grew older and taller, he started getting leaner and he was able to climb walls far more easily than the average person. The Crows that he had stuck with all grew older, and Ameridan hoped that they would stick for a while. Secretly, he and Anna had started to grow feelings for each other – though at this time, he was rather naïve. It was not until she managed to catch him one day on a rooftop where he liked to look at the sunset that she bluntly told him of her feelings. He was surprised, but ended up chuckling when she got upset at him and told her he also felt a bond with her. So started his first relationship… and he enjoyed it for the five years it lasted.

When the years progressed, Ameridan had happened to hear a rather passionate speech one day from a traveler to his city – a merchant who was amazingly persuasive and charming. Ameridan would say he does not know the exact reason why, but he felt drawn to the merchant and asked the man to teach him how to speak and be persuasive. He had no ill intentions with using the power of persuasion and convinced the man that he just wanted to know how to charm people to get their attention, since he loved putting on spectacles.

The merchant was there for a month, and while Ameridan’s activity with the Crows dropped during that time, he learned all sorts of valuable things from the man, whose name was Johann. After Johann left to go travel to another place to sell his wares, Ameridan surprised the Crows when he came by and showed how more gifted he became at speaking. Even Anna who had been upset with him for sneaking away and not telling her for a month, was persuaded to let it go after he charmed her. That night ended up being a particularly memorable one for him, and it is one of his favorite memories.

Of course, all good things come to an end eventually – and it happened when Ameridan was in his early twenties. The Crows had started to break up a bit, some of them finding honest jobs and starting lives in new places. Even Anna wanted to do something new, and she wanted Ameridan to come with her to start a new life and possibly a family. Though he loved his job of persuading people and climbing to escape the guards, he loved her and decided to go with her. Eventually, they settled down in a small village where they got a small home for the two of them and Ameridan found a good job being a worker. Due to his ability to climb, he was able to help repair rooftops and get items and pokemon down. After a few quiet years, he got news from Anna that she was pregnant and they would have a child. He ended up being so happy that day that he climbed the largest hill near the village and yelled out that he was going to be a father.

He waited patiently as each day went by, wanting to see his child and hopefully give his child something he never had – parents and a family. His smile seemed to be twice as big the entire period after he learned of his child, and one day, he learned while he was fixing a rooftop that his love had gone into labor. In a surprising display of nimbleness, Ameridan had leapt down from the rooftop and raced towards where Anna was at their home. By the time he got there, he saw that the village midwife/healer was inside. After being told to wait outside, he waited impatiently for news. He heard cries of pain, but his smile was still radiating on his face. It wasn’t until the older woman came out and had a sad look on her face that his smile slightly faded.

As he rushed inside against the cries of the locals to not go in, he saw a horrifying sight. The sight burned in his eyes, and he only vaguely recognized the midwife’s voice about how the birth was messy and the child died. Anna also had lost far too much blood and she was not going to live. That day, was the first and only time Ameridan had truly lost his smile. While he was sad when the kind matron died, he did not truly lose a smile until this day. It was also the first time he had actually shed tears, and he held Anna’s hand as she slowly passed away. In her last few minutes, he stood there next to her and cried. His love told him not to be sad and cry, but instead smile like he always did. Her last words to him were to continue smiling, and be his vibrant personality instead of wallowing in grief over her and their child.

It was as she gave her last breath that he finally managed to give a teary smile for her to see as her last sight, and she passed away quietly. The village gave Ameridan a few days to grieve, and after she was burned so that no wild pokemon would eat the corpses, Ameridan told the village he could not stay and that Anna had made him promise to move on and enjoy his life. So it was with a smile that he said goodbye to the village he had hoped to raise his family in, and left to travel. It was not easy for him to travel, but he managed to make his way to a big city and did what he had done best for years – put on a spectacle and charm people.

Eventually… his persuasive ways and spectacular climbing escapes would garner him a kind of attention that he did not exactly plan for, but wanted to see if he could get. The attention of a strong rogue, that is…
