With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

| Character: Ludwig GehrmanFull Name:
MarchtonPatron or Trick Lord:
5 ]Total Level: Lv.
In terms of height, Ludwig is above average at six feet. However, his reserved nature tends to make him appear smaller than he actually is unless he is full of confidence or in a dangerous situation. His features are tanned from being outside for most of his life as essentially a nomad. His body frame is lean, but with defined muscles from training that are designed for quick, agile movements instead of strong, bulky movements. His hair is a pale brown with a length that reaches his shoulders and drapes down his face, sometimes making him look like he is hiding his face. His face is nothing special; being rather average with average looks but the only exception is his bright green eyes that seem to glow at night. Distinguishing Features:
He tends to wear non-distinctive clothing, usually sticking with colors like brown to not draw attention to himself. His normal wear is a plain brown shirt with brown pants. His shoes however are plain brown, but slightly more comfortable than regular shoes due to being well-travelled. Often he will wear a brown cloak to hide his features, fearing what could happen if someone were to recognize or remember him. To carry his items, he usually has a satchel that is strapped to his body for faster travel and to reduce drag. Due to living a more nomadic life, he has learned what is too much for him to carry and how well he can travel and knows the limit for his satchel. When he carries a sword, he often has a belt to help put the sword away so that he does not have to wield it all the time.
- Bright Green Eyes
- Reserved Demeanor
In order to move efficiently, one has to be quick, know their limits, and make as little noise as possible. Ludwig adheres to this as a philosophy, having learned it from his father who was a hunter. He tries not to waste any movement when he moves about or travels, knowing that being quick on your feet can mean the difference between life and death in the wild. He always makes an attempt to avoid hitting anything when moving, whether it is people, pokemon, or objects in particular. Partly due to not wanting to draw attention, and partly due to trying to move efficiently in order to get to whatever destination he aims for. Ludwig is not afraid to flee if he knows he is outmatched, for to him it is better to live another day than to die needlessly.History:
He is a very reserved individual, preferring not to talk unless necessary. This was something he inherited from his father too, who was a rather quiet man by nature. He hates crowds and being stuck in a place with a lot of people, greatly preferring open space or quiet places where he can listen to his surroundings easily. Ludwig also gets easily flustered in conversations if someone is saying things about him, and often has difficulty responding if someone praises him. Thus when he tries to have a conversation or discuss a potential job, he prefers to be direct and to the point about what he has to do/will do/has done to avoid further conversation if possible because of his lack of conversational skills with people.
Pokemon he has a slightly easier time expressing himself, feeling like they are more natural to him than other humans. However, he respects just how dangerous pokemon can be and tends to keep a wary eye on any pokemon in his sights. Years of having to listen to faint sounds in a forest and be wary of attacks has made him cautious around pokemon, though he is willing to relax if they do not appear to be aggressive or want to harm him.
Something he is devoted to is the art of using a sword. Perhaps it is a childish fantasy of his, but he had a dream that he saw a sword that glowed like the moon when he was young and always wondered if there could be a sword like that. Ever since then, he has trained himself in wielding a sword and for two years, learned from a former guardian he met when he started his own independent travels. While he by no means considers himself a master with a sword, Ludwig only hopes that by the time he finds his dream-sword or a sword that is similar that he will be worthy of wielding it. As such, if a rumor about a glowing sword comes about, Ludwig will almost never hesitate to try to follow up on those rumors to see if he can find the sword of his dreams. Even if it is foolish, he hunts for it with all his might and tries to become worthy to be a true sword-wielder.
Ludwig is picky about what he takes with him or carries with him, knowing that too much unnecessary items would drag him down from travelling efficiently. He prefers to travel light and with items he knows exactly how long will last him from one destination to another, though if he runs out he is not afraid to forage in the wild. Being the son of a hunter and a travelling merchant has made him capable of operating in the wild efficiently, even if he is not a hunter like his own father.
He has a fear of ghost types, due to their intangibility and will often avoid them whenever possible even though he likes how ghosts tend to be quiet and lurk in the background. Ludwig likes dried or salted food, and hates spicy food. A small, relaxing hobby of his is looking at the moon at nighttime and gazing at its beauty.
Ludwig Gehrman was born to a hunter and a merchant pair, and all his life he never knew what it meant to settle down in one place. His father, Rommel Gehrman was a wandering hunter who often hunted down targets that were causing disturbances but were not at the level of needing the attention of guardians. His mother, Friede was a travelling merchant that often traded wares between towns. It was not an easy life for a young child to live nomadically and go around based on his mother or father’s jobs, but Ludwig learned many lessons from such a lifestyle.______________________________________________________________________________The Player:Name:
His father taught him the best way to move around in a forest or open area. How to make sure each movement was not wasted when hunting after a target or looking for supplies to forage were difficult lessons to learn for a young child, but he persevered. He learned at a very young age after an encounter with a Teddiursa cub to be very, very cautious of pokemon as he was nearly killed by an angry Ursaring parent until his father managed to save him and escape from there. However, his father ended up getting a rather nasty claw mark on his back from the entire ordeal and Ludwig promised his father that he would always be careful and never let his guard down again near pokemon. Young Ludwig devoted much of his time to learning what was safe, how to move quickly and efficiently, and how to be quiet, like his own father.
His mother was the opposite of his father, being rather outspoken and loud. She often doted on her only child, and was where Ludwig got the source of being flustered at being complimented due to all the mothering his mother did to him. Though he preferred to emulate his father, he learned how to read and write from his mother as she was a merchant and learned a bit of bartering, though he had little interest in mercantilism. However, he knew that whenever he felt terrible or bad about doing something that his mother would be there to cheer him up and make him look at positives.
As he grew older, Ludwig had a strange dream one night and in it, he saw himself wielding a glowing sword under the moon. He had no idea where it came from, but was entranced by the idea of wondering if it existed. Thus he wanted to learn how to wield a sword, and while for years on his own he practiced, he never was able to really wield a sword well due to having no real trainer. This changed when he grew old enough to go travel on his own away from his parents and on a chance encounter in Marchton, met a retired Guardian when he was on a hunting mission. The guardian displayed amazing skill with a sword as he single-handedly fought three men who were harassing passerby outside Marchton and defeated them with graceful ease.
After his mission, Ludwig tracked down the man and asked the man if he could learn from him. The man asked Ludwig why he wanted to learn, and why he should teach him. Ludwig told the man about his childish dream without hesitation, but also stated that he wanted to learn as he felt his own experience was inadequate. The older man seemed to deny Ludwig as he went back into his house at hearing the answer, until he came back out with some wooden swords and tossed one to Ludwig. The man stated that he would see for himself just how good Ludwig was with a sword, and challenged the young man to a duel.
Ludwig was no fool and knew that he was going to be defeated before they even began, but accepted the duel as he wanted to learn. In a rather humiliating fashion, Ludwig was beaten multiple times within a chunk of time and ended with a number of bruises when he finally collapsed from exhaustion and injury. Despite not being able to even land a single hit on the old man, the man praised Ludwig for having determination and natural agility even if he did not know how to adequately wield a sword. The harshness of the truth about his posture, how he wielded the sword, how his body moved differently with the sword and how his reflexes did not match up with the sword hit Ludwig hard, but the old man had a small smile on his face at the end. He introduced himself as Geralt and told Ludwig that if he truly wanted to learn from him, he would have to devote at least two years to the training. Geralt would accept no less, and he told Ludwig if he was unwilling to commit that much time, he could leave. It was a lot to ask a young man like Ludwig, who had his whole life ahead of him and committing to one thing for a long period of time was risky if he wanted to live and enjoy himself.
The young son of a hunter gave it thought, but told Geralt that he would do the training and devote two years to learning. He stated that in pursuit of a dream, one can never be unprepared and if it meant he had to wait on his dream in order to be more prepared, he would do it. The two years of time he gave to Geralt were brutal on Ludwig, who earned a multitude of bruises from the veteran swordsman during his training. Much of the first year consisted solely of learning how to swing a sword correctly, whether to slash or thrust, and correct basic posture. Ludwig truly hated the days when he practiced slashing with a sword in one direction repeatedly to try to ingrain it into his body with little rest. Even his days off were not exactly days off as he would often do chores for Geralt or the older man would take advantage of Ludwig’s skill in moving around to get food for the two.
At the end of the first year, after getting beaten in every single match with Geralt and multiple bruises from training, Ludwig managed to surprise his mentor with his quickness and adaptability with just the basic maneuvers he learned. The surprise fight made him finally land a blow on his mentor, though he got terribly beaten by the sword after making that blow and letting his guard down in shock. As he lay bruised, Geralt gave him a contemplative gaze before smiling and telling Ludwig he was ready to learn more advanced training, such as learning a sword style. Granted it seemed like there was little Geralt taught for the second year, but Ludwig learned more of how to do certain combinations such as a vertical into a horizontal slash or rolling forward with a slash to attack and avoid a counterattack. Geralt even taught Ludwig a bit of his own personal style, though did not say to Ludwig as to what the style was named.
He told Ludwig that his frame and agility made him a perfect fit for the style, and a chunk of his remaining year was spent learning the basics of the style and improving overall on his ability. By the end of the two-year training period, Geralt told Ludwig that he could teach him more, but that it was best to go out and get experience before doing any more training. So he told Ludwig to go out into the world and try his hand at being a handler and applying what he learned. The old veteran even gave Ludwig help to start off his journey, and thus Ludwig began his time as a handler after two rigorous years of learning basic swordplay from Geralt.
