Quick Updates

Weather Conditions

Season: Autumn

With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

Rogues
A Rogue is exactly what it is; an outlaw, a bandit, a thief, a bard, a bounty hunter, et cetera- any handler who places his- or her-self on the wrong side of the law. They follow no rules and no laws, save for their own personal codes of conduct. Any shop owner will still do business with them, as will any healer, and usually without protest or danger of being reported to authorities unless they are physically threatened. Money is money, after all.

Rogues who are not a part of the Order of the Masque may choose their own jobs- what they want to steal (or whatever else it is that they happen to be doing), who they want to steal for, whether or not they want to follow through with it, etc. These handlers are the swing-class, so to speak. They're not lawfully good, but they can be anything from ruthless to downright kind, though always on the wrong side of the law.

A rogue's starting pokémon must always be obtained through an unlawful venue, whether this is a pickpocket-scale theft, a real robbery, a mugging, a murder, gambling, or something else entirely is up to the player to decide when they complete their rp sample.
Order of the Masque
Those Rogues who ally themselves with and join the Order of the Masque (OM, 'the Order,' or 'The Masque'), however, function similarly to the Guard, but more relaxed and less trusting. They tolerate more... creative... approaches to their assigned tasks, accept more attitudes in their people, and again, operate by no laws save their own. The rogue who is a member can't count on getting any backup, but is still under the Order's protection, which counts for a lot in the world. For one thing, they have a steady source of income and for jobs ("errands"). For another, they have access to the Black Market, where very rare items that have been stolen may be purchased at a discount for Masque members.

Still, the Order can ask for anything from a simple theft to a murder (or two or three!), and they expect their people to carry it out without question, and to cover their tracks- and of course, not get killed. While the Order will pay for any major bodily injuries to their people, they will do so only after they return. pokémon healings are not included in this.

For anyone wishing to join the Masque, they must simply seek whichever Trick Lord (an individual Trick Lord or Lady is commonly referred to as 'Trick' or 'Trictess') is located in your starting city and convince them to let you join. A list of Trick Lords and Ladies may be found below:

Harper's Pass -- Trick Earl Cross
    Marchton -- Trictess Raleigh Ward
Cape Augustine -- Trictess Abigail Sharp
Navdia Crater -- Trick Zane Sweeney
Istin City -- Trictess Alicia Barker
    Dedrius -- Trictess Rosalyn Blackwell
Cypwater Point -- Trick Aaron Murray
Fough Place -- Trick Leonard Gould
Doran Village -- Trictess Natalia Baxter
Seaway City -- Trictess Rhonda Gibbs
Maritime Industrial Park -- Trictess Valarie Barrie
    Miramossa -- Trick Stan Craft
Infamy System (please see Character Experience)

Weapons and Armour
All rogues may choose between dual daggers and a short bow as their initial weapon, and will be given a set (shirt and pants) of leather armour. Leather is quiet and light, allowing rogues to move with speed and silence, although sacrificing some defensive strength. It is also the coolest of the armours, and better suited for warm environments. Those affiliated with The Order will also be given one piece of leather-backed mail armour of the player's choosing (a set of something counts as one thing- like gloves, for example, or forearm guards, etc). If the player wishes the shirt or pants to be leather backed mail, they may choose another piece of armour to be plain leather. Be aware that leather backed mail does make some noise, though not very much.

The player may choose to ask for the shirt to be sleeveless, for no pants, or for a specific piece instead of one of the default pieces.

    Key Points:
  • Choose between dual daggers and a short bow (with 25 arrows to start).
  • Order Rogues choose between dual daggers and a crossbow/longbow (with 25 bolts/arrows to start). They will also receive a set of 3 throwing knives.
  • Default armour is a set of leather, shirt and pants.
  • Order Rogues may also choose a single piece of leather-backed mail to go with the default.
  • If a different piece of armour is desired, specify whether to sacrifice the shirt or pants and which piece of armour should replace it. The armour will never be any of higher quality than leather.
Errands
A rogue's errand from The Order can be anything from collecting a gambling debt to an assassination, while a free rogue may decide his or her own errands as they go on their way. If you are a free rogue, once you settle on a general goal, please tag it at the bottom of your post in out of character tags so that your updater can keep track. Rogues are unbound by laws or morals other than their own, but they do need to watch out for Guardians and vigilante handlers who would turn them in if caught in the act of anything illegal.

    Key Points:
  • Masque rogues have errands assigned to them by their Trick Lords/Ladies.
  • Free rogues decide their own errands and must tag their general goals at the bottom of their posts in OOC tags to assist the updaters in keeping track of things.
  • Rogues are not bound by laws or morals, but must be careful not to be caught in the act of anything illegal to the best of their ability.
Applications
In order to play a rogue, your application's rp sample must play out how you obtain your starter pokémon, gold, and items by illicit means. You can do anything you like as long as it is unlawful and within reason (Meaning a mass slaughter of a whole town won't really fly. You are, of course, allowed to incorporate murder and whatnot as long as it doesn't get too over the top.). If you intend to affiliate with The Order, you must also approach a Trick/Trictess and ask to affiliate with the OM convincingly.
