With the cooling season of Autumn, Ice-types are starting to re-emerge from their hibernation as Ghost-, Normal-, and Flying-types swarm in the largest numbers they will all year. In comparison, wild Fire- and Bug-type populations are falling in number. The migration of Flying-types to the south in search of warmer weather has also started, as Istin City starts to re-freeze and Autumn marks the beginning of Cypwater Point's rainy season. Handlers and Rogues alike should be wary: Ghost-type powers are boosted during this season, at the cost of being more prone to their triggers.

    Jezenya (or Jez to those who know her well enough) is a dark-skinned woman with plenty of hours logged under the sun. She's a bit of a vain creature; she doesn't worry about her appearance to the same degree as many other women, but suffice it to say that she likes to be admired. She keeps her skin smooth with whatever lotions and balms she can get her hands on, a feat considering how sunlight is prone to causing wrinkles. Her soft, dark hair is kept long, and Jez plays on its natural tendency to curl by enhancing corkscrew spirals at the ends of her locks. Rarely does Jezenya leave it loose, not when she can get creative and put it into just about any style that she pleases (her hair is pretty willing to do whatever she wants it to). A pair of hazel eyes peers out over high cheekbones, giving the young woman an air of permanent scrutiny. Okay, so maybe she worries about her appearance a fair amount. Don't judge.

    Jezenya was also blessed with the supple curves of womanhood, a fact that she is well aware of- and that she plays up. She enjoys wearing bright clothing, most often in warm colors and vivid designs, and she has an eye for what clothes look the best on her frame. Years of helping her blacksmith father in his forge have given Jezenya a subtle musculature, but in the end she's not much of a smith (although she has a very good eye for quality metal and gemwork). Instead the young woman has honed her endurance for over a decade, preferring to make treks out of the city to search for new mining spots. Jez may not be the strongest or the fastest of the bunch, but she can easily outlast them all.

Overall Personality:
    Headstrong, stubborn Jezenya knows what she wants and no one will persuade her otherwise. Where there's a will there's a way, and this woman most definitely has a will. A strong one. She hates to be overruled or talked down to (the latter especially) and only in the presence of those who she respects will she hold her tongue against such insult. Although she possesses a temper as easy to rouse as an active volcano, Jez has always believed in the "Don't get mad; get even" mantra. She tends to redirect her anger into a more vengeful outlet, and in this category she is both exceptionally patient and very creative. Jez keeps an accurate mental list of those who wrong her and is more than willing to wait months, even years, before getting even. She has confidence in spades, a virtue that powers most everything she does, and she prides herself on her ability to get what she needs without outside assistance. Those who know and love the woman would describe her as vibrant and full of life; this description is not inaccurate, and for all she comes off the Mean Girl to those on her bad side, it's nust a product of being full of passion. Jez is a powerful, fierce friend to those she likes, and she's put others before herself on more than one occasion (although to say that she's selfless would be inaccurate, because Jezenya diHadi does not ignore her own desires for other people).

    Jezenya, if it can be helped, prefers to be in control of a situation- if she finds herself vulnerable, she'll pull out every trick in her sleeve to turn things around. The woman is almost deviously clever- the kind of clever that attracts trouble more often than not- and even educated vastly prefers street smarts over book smarts. This innate ability to read a situation and come up with viable solutions comes in very handy, particularly because Jez has a habit of rushing into things without thinking. Perhaps it's because she believes she can work her way out of anything, or perhaps it's due to her general lack of patience. In many regards this woman still has the mentality of someone half her age; she doesn't really consider the fact that she's not immortal, and what she hears about happening to other people can easily happen to her. She'll willingly slide into a dangerous situation because she thinks it's exciting, even romantic, and the possibility of anything worse than a few cuts and bruises never enters her mind.

    On an average day Jez is approachable, open, very charismatic, and brutally honest. She tends to attract people to her like moths to a flame, which works out nicely with her extrovert nature. She's at home around friends, particularly if she gets to be the center of attention, and her love of adventure drives her desire to see the other cities of the region. The excitement of finding and taming rare Pokemon- both for herself and for others- gives her the patience to spend prolonged periods of time out in the wilderness. Just as long as she gets the prize that she's after, because boy will she be unhappy if she doesn't.
History:
    The Family


    Jezenya diHadi is the second eldest child of four, born to Samuel and Lania diHadi in the heart of Navdia Crater. Her mother spent her young adult life as a dancer, a profession that earned her quite a bit of coin as well as a reputation as one of Harper's elite performers. To many of her clients in other cities she represented the exotic nature of Navdia, and Lania was coveted by men and women alike. In the end, though, her heart was with her home, and when she turned 35 she returned to her birthplace and met the blacksmith Samuel. They fell in love, had children, and Lania officially retired from her life as a professional dancer (although she still performs for the city, and she makes her money teaching dance to the younger generations). After years of traveling across the country it seemed that Lania was more than happy to settle down and raise a family.

    Jezenya was vibrant, confident, and headstrong even as a child, traits she got from her mother and that earned Lania's unconscious favoritism. She wanted to know how to do everything, and what she could do she worked at until she had some degree of skill. Jez loved to be admired, to be the center of attention, and she learned learned early that the only way to get what she wanted was to be able to do what others couldn't. The girl focused on what she knew- her parents' professions- and began to both dance and help her father around the forge. The former came more naturally to Jezenya than the latter, and although she didn't make any significant strides in smithing, she developed an eye for quality metalwork. By the time she was twelve she had given up her father's trade altogether, mainly because it involved getting too sweaty with too few people to stand in awe of her. She began to pour all of her free time into dancing, and it wasn't long before the community began to exclaim that little Jez was going to follow in her mother's footsteps.

    When she turned fourteen, Jezenya was gifted with a Pokemon to raise- an Eevee- in a tradition her Balican parents were passing down to their children. Perhaps it was because the girl had spent years as a dancer, an art that involved speaking with her body, but she quickly discovered that she was instinctively good at reading Pokemon behavior. This latent talent intrigued Jezenya a great deal, for her skill with dancing had come with natural talent, yes, but chiefly a lot of work and dedication. Spotting and deciphering a Pokemon's actions seemed to be as easy as breathing, and for the first time in her life the young teenager began to walk down a path that included a passion that made her happy, not just a passion that got her admired by others. She took a job at a nearby stable and began making coin by mucking out stalls; dancing was still a cherished hobby, but it was a hobby she practiced less and less. Jez began arriving early to work, as well as staying late, so she could watch the Ponyta trainers work with new Pokemon. She used the tips she picked up to train her own Eevee, and when she performed a dance at a festival in sync with her little Pokemon, this talent began to get recognized.

    It was then that Jezenya realized what she wanted to do with her life. She enjoyed dancing, yes, but true excitement lay with Pokemon. She discovered that she wanted to go out into the world and tame the most ferocious of beasts, earn her name as a daring, brave, and talented trainer who could turn around even the most aggressive of Pokemon. It would earn her a substantial amount of awe and admiration (which was right up Jez's alley) and it would be a path she had chosen herself, not merely something that involved her following a predecessor's footsteps. Dancing became a weekend thing, and her job at the stables took up all of her time. She saved coin for the impending Foray Into the Wilds of Harper, and she began to take small jobs training her neighbor's Pokemon. At first it was small things, like figuring out why Lady Henna's Purrloin was starting to pee under the windows, but over the months that followed Jez took tougher, and more time-consuming, tasks. When she was seventeen she began to volunteer with Navdia's guardians as a novice trainer, which mainly involved helping the established trainers with menial tasks. As she learned she was given more freedom, and more trust, to handle more sensitive work, and when she turned eighteen she officially quit her job at the stables (they were sad to see her go; she got a farewell party) and was hired on as a Pokemon trainer for Navdia Crater's guardians.

    It was around this time that Jez officially joined the Balican faith. She had always sort of followed along, mainly because her parents did (and her father, as a blacksmith, was friends with Jacob Zantorian). But now she wanted to explore the religion on her own, and no it had nothing to do with her belief that Jacob was good-looking. Nope, not at all. Still she learned the rituals and participated in them with relative dedication, although she began to wonder if this Entei was not a god but perhaps an incredibly rare Pokemon that used to (and maybe still did?) exist.

    Her job with the guardians was simple, or so it seemed at first: she had to assess whether the Pokemon taken from rogues could be turned around into partners for her employers, with or without a Psychic-type's help. Those that could without intervention were given to her for simple behavior training, and Jez, being Jez, was not content to simply be good at her job. She spent almost all of her free time- alongside her work hours- working with the Pokemon tasked to her, and she began to incorporate some unusual methods. Most trainers felt, to some degree, that success could be achieved simply by teaching the Pokemon what it could and could not do; this involved rewards for good behavior as well as discipline for bad behavior. Jez had long since known that every species of Pokemon behaved differently, and the same methods for training a Growlithe would not work nearly as well training a Meowth, for example. The young woman began to use what she knew, and what she could interpret, of a Pokemon's behavior to her training methods, which eliminated the idea of Punish the Bad from her regimen entirely. Instead she began to pick out behaviors she wanted to see and reward those, while completely ignoring the undesirable; she used the Pokemon's natural actions to help her decide how her training needed to be applied. Jez was able to turn relatively unresponsive Pokemon into star performers within days, and after two years of this she was promoted to handle the tough, aggressive cases.

    These Pokemon were different. These were creatures either so abused by their former masters that they liked and trusted no one, or they were so loyal to their former masters that they refused to work with the guardians. Mostly they were the ones altered with psychic intervention, but Jez insisted on training hers without aid. These Pokemon, the woman soon saw, required more than just treats for being good. Some of them couldn't even be trained until she had established herself as a person they could trust, a task that by itself often took months to complete (especially for those still loyal to their rogues). After that came careful behavior modifying, complete with plenty of rewards. Jez's method was not the fastest, but it was definitely the most thorough, and the Pokemon that came out from under her care required no further intervention. It was, at least for Jez, a dead end- yes she loved her job, but the better she got at it the more boring it became. When she turned twenty-three, and training the most rogue-loyal of Pokemon only took a handful of months, the woman started to turn to other avenues for work. She began to offer her services as a hunter of sorts, volunteering to go out into the wilds around Navdia to find and tame specific Pokemon, which would then be exchanged for gold with her clients. Her first jobs were funded by the guardians themselves, always on the lookout for fresh partners, but as she came back successful time and time again she began to get requests from Navdia's citizens. One woman wanted an Electrike puppy so it could be friends with her Growlithe; a rich man wanted a Trapinch for his collection (that one took her months to find). She left her job with the guardians to start Pokemon hunting for other people, taking pride when she successfully tamed the rarer, more aggressive beasts. Jezenya diHadi was making a name for herself, alright, and around Navdia it was garnering her all of the attention she desired.

    Her poor Eevee, though, was getting older. She seemed less content to be out with her mistress and moreso at home napping; Jez began to leave the Pokemon to be pampered by her two sisters until it became clear that, however much the Eevee loved Jez, she would be happy staying in the household as long as she was taken care of. A few weeks after her twenty-sixth birthday, the woman watched her lifelong companion greet her sister before it greeted her, and it was then that she realized it was time to leave. She wouldn't have to feel guilty about abandoning her Pokemon to go out and tame the wilds of Harper. Whether it was some cosmic sign or just coincidence didn't matter; Jezenya had plenty of money saved, and she had a lot more excitement waiting for her out there.

    Besides, there were entire cities that didn't know who she was. This needed to be fixed pronto.
